My multiplayer pretty much only crashes in the new Rio map, some of the time, for some reason. Otherwise, can't recall too many outright crashes. Connection errors are too common though. Either not connecting with the hosting player or, more recently, Origin losing the connection to EA altogether. Losing connection to the game happens pretty frequently and lately Origin has started to cut off.
The multiplayer is a lot of fun but has always had issues. It's EA/Bioware so don't expect them to fix anything much anytime soon. Mostly it works fine.
Leviathan was amazing for DLC. Some mystery stuff, some of the fiercest fights in the game, and a great ending. It's really good work, everything about it is solid.
I would install the multiplayer DLCs if I were you. There's nothing wrong with the default classes, maps and weapons but there's a lot of DLC ones that I wound up enjoying a lot more. Plus if you're playing with friends you all need to have the same DLCs installed. And if you're just playing with randoms, you won't be limited when the game's trying to find a match for you.
Yes. The newest classes are extremely popular too. Would be tough to find a game without them, if that's how it works. You need the new maps, classes, and weapons, no question.
Yeah the N7 classes are super fun to play, except infiltrator because I'm a terrrrible infiltrator. I also love the phoenix adept and vanguard, so much fun. If only I could get those classes in N7....
Playing on 360 has been okay as far as connections go, but my big problem is bugs and glitches. I'd float above the map, or suffer the charge-while-dying vanguard glitch, or not be able to move at all. One time on the Vancouver map all I could do was shoot. I couldn't even move or turn or use powers. argh.
Thing that got lost in the news of the BioWare retirements:
Omega DLC (where you help Aria take back her hellhole - I mean rock) is not surprisingly pretty much confirmed, apparently they'll release more MP and SP content for ME3 over the next six months.
Wondering how they're going to continue in the ME universe outside the trilogy, no Shepard. Obvious MMO route? Something set way before? Way after?

I think I read in the Final Hours of Mass Effect app that Casey Hudson has no interest in stories that happen after Shepard. But that might not mean much in the long run. Seems like he wants to do more, though, and EA/Bioware definitely will do something.
If I had to guess, I'd say that they're not very interested in the MMO route right now.
I swear the multiplayer gets buggier and buggier with each passing week. Nothing gets fixed and new glitches appear every other session. It's astonishing how pitiful Bioware/EA are about cleaning up the game. Some nights you can't get two clean matches in succession.

EA has always been like this. Fix the broken stuff in Battlefield? Nope, announce new game in series instead.
Since I complained, I should note that a new patch that has been in the works for months has just arrived. I hope it fixes a lot of the issues.
Also, Keíth Szarabajka, I mean the Collectors are back! Tons of new stuff including environmental effects and hazards on Oct 9th. I complain about bugs but at this point the multiplayer has provided more value than the single player campaign.
^ And then we'll officially hear more of Harbinger than we did in all of Mass Effect 3.
That's a surprisingly good point. Aside from speaking with a random reaper on Rannoch, Harbinger essentially sits in the background. I suppose as the oldest of the Reapers that might be warranted as he would be leading them.
Visited the Bioware forums and some multiplayer geeks are getting super upset about the possibility that some of the new characters might be Volus. It's hilarious. One guy threatens to kick every Volus from every game if that happens.

Yeah... see, realistically, I feel like if you've gotten yourself into a position where you're interacting with Harbringer, you're doing something very wrong.

Bah. I think having a race that you usually don't see fighting - Volus, elcor hanar (and no Blasto doesn't count =P) - would be badass. Mix it up a little.

The Volus are hilarious. They die so easily, but seeing my Volus engineer's rotund lifeless body roll down a long flight of stairs cracks me up everytime. As soon as your shields are down, you're dead, basically.
They've also changed the main farming maps. White is much more difficult now. We did White Collectors Gold and it was absolutely ridiculous. I'm not used to getting early wipeouts.
Yeah they're supposed to be more of a support class. But damn, I still want one.
White was getting boring anyway.
Also, I really wish they'd added challenges earlier. I'd have a lot of points from biotics and shotguns, lol.
The Volus are fun to play. I have the engineer. He has a recon mine that makes an awesome explosion. It does a tactical scan with a damage buff while in place and you can detonate in anytime. I like to do badass detonations from across the map or Hollywood style "walking away and not looking back" explosions.
The Volus shield recharge seems really good also. The cooldown isn't too bad so you can almost constantly recharge everyone around you and there's also a 6 second damage reduction option.
They should have added the challenges sooner. A lot of them are so far away at this point that they don't really motivate me to do anything different.
The Collectors are a lot tougher than the other enemies. They do so many horrible things. I hope they don't nerf them because people complain. They're easy to headshot though.
