I always find it strange about the Catholic Church's and Conservatives against alcohol and drinking.

The Catholic Church was effectively founded on hooch. Friars and Abbots have been brewing beer and drinking wine since forever.

If Jesus had gone to that wedding and turned all that water into Pepsi he'd probably have been a whole lot less popular.

It's not that I am aware of. They preach that moderate drinking is perfectly fine, but alcohol abuse and drinking to the point of health problems is a sin. Pretty much the same that issues that secular society has with alcohol.
