Also I was able to get tickets to one of Ariana Grande's shows in London next year.
Apparently scalping is illegal there (?) so no scalpers to contend with. Kind of wish we had that in Canada. There's also rumours she may get all the resale tickets cancelled so they can be resold.
She'll probably add Toronto and Vancouver shows to the tour but I've at least got something if nothing else works out.

I'll have to figure this out a little as I happen to be in London during Radiohead's upcoming 4 night residency- I didn't get a sale code (tried) but hoping for some above board options leading up (or day of) ..only need one seat! we'll see....

Anybody go to the Descendents last week?
Fun show. So stoked they played Hope. Was really wishing for I'm not a Loser, but guess it wasn't meant to be. Such a great show, though. I've missed them when they've been in Calgary before and I had tickets to them in Edmonton a few years ago, but I got called away on a family emergency and missed it. They're a big band for me and I'm so happy I've finally seen them.
Something just hits right every time at Mac Hall, too.

I went. I’ve seen them and Buzzcocks before but I’ll see them every chance I can.
I disagree about Mac Hall. Horrible venue. We spent most of the concert out back where the sound sucked less. Probably a getting old thing.

Meh, I'm old, too. I thought the sound was great (was also lurking in the back whereas I usually try to stand by the sound board or whatever that situation is in the centre with all the controls).
Buzzcocks were great, too.
But you really didn't like the sound? That's interesting. I thought it was crystal clear...was so impressed with the Descendents live. For a while I was at the back wall, but the bass was hammering too hard right there, so moving up ~15' was a sweet spot.

It’s just a bad room for sound. I’ve definitely heard worse shows there. Last time they were in town I was by the sound board and the sound guy said something like I was blasphemous for wearing earplugs. It’s not like I enjoy wearing them but I’d like to keep my already diminished hearing.

lol, earplug shaming you? What a tit that guy was. I have them in at every show. I sometimes take them out for my favourite songs, but then they're right back in.

I was there and really liked it too. I saw a bunch of kids singing along to all the songs, which I found interesting. Pretty cool how the demographics change at these old punk shows.
I remember one time years ago I saw Lagwagon and their singer said something to the effect of "Our regular drummer isn't here right now because he's an accountant and it's tax season" haha.

They say earplugs that are made for concerts, have you guys tried those? They keep a lot of the fidelity and just lower the volume. I use them regularly and love them.
I have some musician friends that never go to a concert without earplugs. Sound guys should know better, but they’re probably ####ty sound guys with bad hearing.

I use the Loop Switch 2 now and I had the Etymotic ER20s for a long time before that. I’m like Sliver and take them out occasionally if I want the full experience for a song, but I can still enjoy a show with them in.
I hope the sound guy who chastised me isn’t dealing with tinnitus or major hearing loss, because it’s really not worth it just to be seen as a “real punk”.

I tried the Loop Experience but they were too much attenuation for me, made things too quiet and too much detail loss.
I had some $ left in my health spending account so I got a set of Minuendo adjustable ones and I liked those, I could adjust them to get the level I wanted, or at least close. Super expensive tho not sure I'd buy them with my own $.
