Demko is the Coyotes ask. They have been told no.

If the Canucks can send Eriksson back in the deal it is not so bad.

Judging by what we've seen so far, I don't think my initial posts on the matter are far off from what the Canucks are offering.
Eriksson, Juolevi/Virtanen and 2nd or 3rd round pick. with 1 - 2 million retained by Arz

If OEL is traded, any manager would be dumb to offer any more than this. And this is still a favour to ARZ.

Yep. As I've said, they think that Boston or Vancouver is going to play fair here and pay a premium despite the fact the Coyotes have zero leverage in these negotiations and desperately need to move money.
What's the saying? Other GMs won't throw you a life preserver, they'll throw you a boat anchor.

Also Markstrom said he wouldn't go to Edmonton.

Says third hand information. I think it's unlikely he goes to Edmonton, but I'm not going to treat third hand information as if it is any more than a weak rumor

The Oilers can't sign really sign anyone for over 5 mill unless they make moves.

That is hideous for Arizona
If Eriksson is going along the package will be Juolevi+Demko+1st+Eriksson

I think that's a good trade for Arizona. They save a lot of money after year 1, and get out of a massive anchor of a contract.

Columbus and Nashville both cleared lots of space, probably to chase Hall.
Colorado could possibly get in there too.
Boston and Edmonton rumored to be potential suitors as well.
A couple months ago I thought Hall to CGY was darn near a slam dunk, but I have my doubts now. I think that getting a goalie will be Treliving's number one priority, and his number two priority will be getting a top 4 Dman....which makes the most sense looking at the roster.
I think the market for Johnny might not be all that palatable when you are just wanting to unload his salary and return futures. Teams that would be after Johnny and willing to pay the price, likely want to send cap back along with futures, or just plain execute a "hockey trade", and that is not conducive to signing Hall, signing a #1 goalie AND signing a top 4 Dman.
Guess we'll know shortly.

Is it at all possible that teams are shredding contracts because they simply cannot afford to pay them

One deal for Johnny that is starting to make a lot of sense to me is Risto++ or the Myers+Frost deal.
I do think if they are able to get Hall signed Johnny for futures becomes Johnny for a Dman.

a cap dump, a guy they are letting walk, and a 2nd... for a top pairing defender
you are setting yourself up for some serious disappointment

Interesting
David Pagnotta
@TheFourthPeriod
As VAN/AZ keep trying to figure out an OEL trade, Coyotes have asked for Demko in the mix. Canucks has shied away from that. Minny asked about Demko when VAN first inquired about Dumba last month. If the Canucks & Markstrom can agree to terms, will VAN change its position?

Nope, I am setting myself up for a deal to not be done.
Coyotes have no leverage to ask for anything more. They need to move money, badly. They can't keep up with bonus payments, let alone the actual salary payments they will need to make when the season starts.
They're not getting anything overly valuable or good. Maybe a 1st. Maybe. But other than that, b and c grade #### across the board and they will either eat a lot of cap or cap dumps.

Teams do not generally trade in division and give their rivals a deal. I suspect they would take an inferior offer from Boston before they took a crappy deal from Vancouver.
