Huge Whoosh lol. Happens to the best of us. For anyone else who does not know what the references are to, Jonathan Marchessault had a twitter/instagram meltdown after a playoff game and replied the extremely childish comments you see in this thread publicly to fans/critics who were posting about the VGK.
Back to rumors:
Seems suspiciously quiet around Pietro. Is that who vegas is wildly trying to make room for? I still think we could be a dark horse, especially if we are out of the Hall sweepstakes (which i still don't fully believe.)

I have a feeling I'm going to be very fricken annoyed tomorrow. Probably a combination of the Flames striking out on players I want them to sign, and also players I want the Flames to sign signing with our rivals.
Plus, the bottom line is that if the Flames do actually land a big name UFA or two tomorrow, in the end you can't change the fact that they will be big UFA contracts and those things almost always hurt in the end.
I should probably stay away from the internet until after supper tomorrow, and then check in to see the carnage after many of the big chips have fallen.

Derek Ryan is a great third line centre who might not have that role in Calgary after next week. Someplace like Florida would be jumping out of their socks to add him. I don't think that you would get a tonne back, but maybe Chase Priskie, now that they have essentially blocked him with the acquisition of Nutivaara.
I would also look at signing Lucas Wallmark to a contract with a little term (say a 2M/3years). He would be a big upgrade on Jankowski on the fourth line, with the potential of moving into the middle six legitimately.

Derek Ryan is definitely a cap hit I would love to remove from the team. $3.15M is too much for a 4th line C especially since there is a very realistic chance there will be a 5.25M winger on that line next year.

I think Craig Smith could be a great add at the right price. I think he could be great on as our third line RW. I would be happier to have him at $3.15M than Ryan. Though I hope he could be had even cheaper when all the dust settles.

I really like Ryan, but I think Bennett needs to slot up to 3rd line C, and that being the case, Ryan's price tag is high, for the minutes and value we would get out of him this year.
Yes, he is a good PKer and all, but there are going to be some guys available for CHEAP this year. And lord knows, we could use the cap space elsewhere.

2nd segment
Jets want to add a top end D and a 2nd line center
Jets will inquire on Wennberg (although he will have lots of interest)
Things have cooled on Laine
Jets didn't expect to get Perfetti so may look for a veteran C to bridge until he is ready
Jets believed to be interested on Stastny
Knights have put MAF on the sideburner because it has become so hard to move him
evaluating moving Stastny, Schmidt, Martinez instead
Arionza will likely not meet OEL deadline
Bruins appear to have put acquiring OEL on the backburner
Vancouver is waiting in the wings
Vancouver and Markstrom continue to grind away - going down to the wire
Khoudobin and Stars talks broke off after Stars made final offer- a ton of interest Calgary interested, Vancouver if they can't re-sign Markstrom, Vegas if they can move Fleury
Holtby - Edmonton on the Radar
Talbot - had an offer from the Flames today but it didn't move the needle for him
Greiss - lots of interest - including Vancouver if they can't re-sign Markstrom, and Vegas if they can move MAF

Ryan certainly has some value, but let’s face it, no one is jumping out of their socks to get him in a flat cap world.

A bust of an offseason sounds like James Neal and Troy Brouwer. I hope he sits on his phone tomorrow and checks in on leftovers on Saturday.

That's not going to happen.
I guess you'll just have to hope he strikes out, because he's going to be in on several of the bigger name UFA's tomorrow.

Flames betting favorites to sign Hall
Canucks betting favorites for Markstrom followed by the Oilers

I don't see how the Canucks are in on Markstrom at all unless he accepts a 1 year deal or being picked by Seattle in the expansion draft. There's no other way around it.

If I were making the line, it would be Vancouver, then Calgary

They could include Demko in the OEL trade then lock in to Markstrom. Yotes then move Kuemper to teams hoping to go after Markstrom

The Canucks would be plain stupid to trade Demko for OEL so yes I hope to see it.
