Drilling is the easy part for sure, procuring services and metal would be trickier if new to the area. Rigs probably long gone or poorly laid up and junk.

We have figured out getting rigs and crews in far sketchier and remote areas. The rigs follow the producers for whoever is willing to pay. Hell that was the easy part. The hard part was renting Antanovs to get some power generation in once up and running from across the world.

Wish Dad was around. We lived there in 79, he was in the steel industry then. It was an interesting place to work even then, way before Chavez. I’d love to have his insight.
I saw the Guri dam completed, I think it supplied most of the country’s electricity for awhile before falling into disrepair. Beautiful country, the people were very friendly. The Americans there were #######s.

My aunt's husband was in the oil industry and they moved the whole family there for about 8 years between I'd guess from 1990-1998 or so. They lived in a very nice gated community and raised two daughters there.

He probably made some good cake i bet.
Apache had a bunch of expat americans up. They got paid like hell. They would get first class tickets anywhere in the world twice per year for the family. But they would giveypu 75% if ypu took economy. So hed takehis family to Maui and go to a mansion all for free.

Depends on how you go about it - I could see Trump sending in Marines to guard those roads, and anyone who tries to stop the oil just gets shot.

Highly doubt it works and is worth the risk. The Colombian army tried that in the Putumayo. It would take an immense amount of boots on the ground.

I read a piece today saying it would be a $1 trillion investment to replace Canada's oil. Just an analyst's opinion but seemed to have merit.

Not suggesting its a good idea at all - it very much isn't for a bunch of humanitarian, ethical, and practical reasons. But just because something is both evil and stupid doesn't mean Trump wouldn't try it.

Nah, it was the 70s. Started at Suncor later that year, that turned out pretty well.

Venezuelan women are so hot. This is the most excited I've been to have any semblance of heavy oil expertise in my entire life and I have no reason for this to be the case.

This is cope.
If AB attracts ~40-50B of capex investment per boom, it'll be 20 booms before you get the thermal curious American developers considering coming back up here again.
