Forget his size. Watch one of his games and talk to his coaches and teammates and it's immediately clear that this is one of the key figures for this franchise going forward.

Love this quote:

Hoping he could add another inch or two (most likely not) but on the weight side get up to about 170.

The weight will come with time and a proper fitness plan, I am not worried about that. He needs to just focus on bettering himself as a player and not becoming content with his success.
Realistically this kid is what, 3 or 4 years out of making the show? A lot can change in that time. Including body weight.

3 years I think is about right. I honestly think he should finish off college, play a year or so in the AHL, depending on how he does, then showcase himself in camp for a permanent position with the big club.
From the most impartial and subjective standpoint I can possible muster, I find myself seeing him have a fairly lengthy and somewhat productive NHL career. For the Flames? I hope so. I think somewhere in the 600-800 point range over 12 or so years?

I've been all for Johnny to stay in school for a third year, and still am for the most part, but if the Flames are really sure about his abilities to go to the next level, and fear he will become stagnant at the college level, then I think they could try to convince him to turn pro-if he needs convincing.
The concern I have about him playing in Abbotsford is the extreme amount of travel and little practice time. I'd be concerned about him wearing down over an 80 game schedule, and that could merit him to not playing as much.

Let the kid stay in college. As he gets older, he should dominate even more. He'll make the jump when he's ready.

In regards to the first half; I think for him personally, finishing school should be mandatory. They size and type of player he is may not translate to a professional level. He could use an educational background if that happens. I also think that another 2 years of NCAA hockey could benefit him in that he is playing against a lot of skilled opponents, and the schedule works in his favor for putting on some more muscle mass. I think if he gets his diet in order (according to the article posted above he eats a lot of junk and hates most veggies) and gets on a strict workout regiment he could add another 20 or so pounds of muscle, which is very needed.
In regards to the bolded; I believe his stamina would most likely be a huge factor on his game in Abbotsford. Again, as I said previously, his college schedule would likely allow him more time in the gym and on the ice working on his endurance to prepare himself for the big leagues. In my opinion it is his safest bet if he wants to make the biggest impact possible for the Heat or the Flames.

Gaudreau/Arnold could be the sole reason they are in talks with Utica.

College Hockey News @chnews 9m
Reports from Boston TV suggest David Quinn will be named new BU coach Tuesday.
Any chance the coaching change affects Gaudreaus decision to go pro?
