I can't believe that he finished the match and that somehow he doesn't have head or neck injuries!
There was a fan video showing him collapsing in guerilla entrance after the match. He took two real hard bumps on the head last night. That back flip onto the commentators desk should have K.O him. Tough S.O.B even if I don't think much of him as a wrestler

AEW is such a mess... Mox is so afraid of 58 year old Jeff Jarrett that him and Yuta blatantly interfere in the match against Claudio. This is brutal stuff. Worse than WCW/TNA. At least in WCW/TNA Nash, Hogan, Hall, etc were stars at one point in their career; Jarrett was never a star. This is how your booking your World Championship? Absolutely laughable, how can they keep pushing Jarrett? Nobody cares! The crowd reactions prove that.

I have not watched AEW more than a few minutes in passing in my life. One thing though, clearly WWE is the more popular and profitable company, yet look at this thread. AEW conversation is 75% I'd say. The majority of it is complaining and about what could be, but it's something.
There is clearly a market for competition, if they could just get out of their own way.

That 100% nails it. People wanted it to be all the things WWE wasnt' during the real bad Vince periods, and they provided it for a bit, but have not maintained it.
They have a great roster. They had a really unique brand and more "pro wrestling" and less "sports entertainment" focus out the gate.
And they've really misused the roster, and have lost their initial vision to the point where I do think the current product resembles more bad WWE/WCW than the unique vision they had initially.
Most of my complaining about AEW stems from a place where I really wanted them to be a better alternative, and for a period of time they probably were, but really they peaked that night at All Out 2021 when Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole debuted (Actually maybe the actual peak was the next PPV when Page beat Omega but it's around there), things really started to spiral after All Out 2022 (MJF as champion really carried them for a bit as they battled some injuries), and haven't been able to find that magic again IMO.

Looks like I'll be skipping WWE World in Vegas. $86.25 US per day which is like $125 CDN. I only planned on going there on one day and spending maybe 2-3 hours.

I went last year and I'd say make sure you still go there for the WWE Super Store because the merch there will be more readily available and more robust than the arena and should be free to get in.
WWE World itself was neat but not sure it was worth the money, the best part was being there for Pat McAfee's live broadcast on the Monday and it's cool to see some of the props and do the create your own entrance thing but the autograph lines and meet and greets were either extra money or had crazy long lines.

Yeah, I was still going to go to the store. Maybe on the Friday before SmackDown.
If I did get a ticket for one day I wasn't planning on getting autographs. I waited in line for 4 hours to meet Shinsuke and Corbin when I went to SummerSlam in Toronto in 2019 and completely wrecked my legs for the rest of the trip. I was just going to go walk around and see the props and watch whatever events they had going on.

There is always a market for more wrestling. I think the issue with AEW is a lot of us were looking for it to be a shining beacon in the dark of WWE's morass at the time. And it just never delivered and then inexplicably WWE became the shining beacon in the dark of the morass they had created and we were all confused by that. Wrestling fans are simple creatures, we abhor confusion so AEW letting that happen has made us all very angry.
I can't wait for Rumble tomorrow, it's always my favourite PPV. Wrestlemania will always have bigger matches, but nothing beats the concept of The Rumble. Pat Patterson deserves praise for putting the show on the map. One of these days I hope someone completely off the wall wins the event. Just a complete surprise, like Shinsuke back in 2018... just done right this time. Gotta think Punk, and probably Charlotte win this year.
I also enjoyed the superstars giving commentary for the 2024 matches. I recommend checking those out. Highlight for me is watching Dominick take shots at Punk... he is such a great heel. I love how most of them stick to their characters while watching the matches. Priest and R-Truth are amazing together as well, watching Priest crack up the entire time is hilarious.

So I'm dealing with an awful case of Strep Throat, and I'm absolutely miserable, and I started watching some of the old Raws on NetFlix, and stumble across one from July 1994.
The opening match was the famous Bret vs 123 Kid. The match started with the almost absurd as The Anvil and Owen came down to the right and started insulting Bret. The hurtful comments bought a tear to Bret's eyes as his brother called him a scardy Cat and Anvil made chicken clucking noises. BTW, Anvil was such a treat. The match itself was a 5 star match, it had everything two great workers working off of each other, and a amazingly high level of story telling for a non feud match. Bret won the match but noticed the kids foot was on the rope, and stated he was no scardy cat and refused to win that way, and the match was restarted. 123 kid took over and it took a mistake, he came off of the top at Bret who neatly turned it into a sharp shooter and the Kid tapped out. Bret then made sure the Kid was ok and they showed each other respect.
The next match had Kona Crush (The late crazy person Brian Adams) versus some jobber named Matt Hardy (yup), who's gimmick was to get the fans to chant USA to enrage Crush a Hawaiian. Crush showed no mercy to the youngster caving his skull in with a super kick. Hardy got zero offence in.
Then we had a special Kings Court where Lawler went to the offices of Ted Dibiase, where the subject was that the people that worked for him were completely incompetent idiots.
The next match had Razor Ramon against one of the best jobbers in the game in Barry Horowitz, who was actually a very good territory wrestler. Scott Hall showed a lot of versatility, and beat the jobber with a small package after bashing him around the ring for 5 minutes.
The final match or main event had Irwin R Schyster doing a tax audit on poor Ray Hudson, who between 1992 and 1997 appeared in over 200 matches mostly looking up at the ceiling and being paid in hot dogs and tang. But he did appear as the Black Scorpion in WCW.
The highlight this episode beyond the Bret and Kid match, was the commentary team of Jim Ross and Randy Savage, who treated a a super kick to Matt Hardy's head like a soccer goal screaming GOAL for about 2 minutes.

Yeah the commentaries are fun to watch, even Shayna kind of breaks character in it. I can't look at her the same, last night I stumbled on her fight against Cyborg and it was ugly.

I mean yeah, to Charlotte, but I've been sick of her just winning and being in the Championship position.
They could super dark horse it this year. Why not have Grace win it. With all the talk of no story line I fully expect Bliss to appear. They could have some strong appearances by the NXT roster. Its likely that Flair will win, I'm just not intrigued by it.

I think Punk winning makes the most sense, especially since he appears weekly. He's also never won the Rumble, which will add to his legacy. Plus they can create more stories on who he'll choose to face at Mania, whether it be Cody, Gunther, or possibly Reigns if he wins a Title... Obviously Cena is the other option, but he won't be on television every week, and he's won twice before. Cena is already confirmed for Elimination Chamber. I assume he wins there, and gets Cody at Mania.
As for the Women's Rumble, I agree that Charlotte winning seems stale before it even happens. She's had so many title runs over the years that it'll be tedious seeing her get another. She will also end up being the heel in an expected feud with Straton. That feels like a lesser program, and Flair already won back in 2020. That being said Vince was always a fan of Charlotte, could Triple H feels different about her? The only problem is I don't see another obvious winner. Maybe Becky Lynch, but they're not going to run back Lynch/Ripley yet. Perhaps there will be two winners or some sort of controversy angle? They haven't done that yet, whereas with the Men's Rumble that happens every few years. Maybe both Charlotte and Becky win?
