So quick question. Any idea what happened to Heath? Did the Saviors catch him/save him? I was trying to determine what the tire tracks meant other than maybe he got away.
I also found that episode to be of poorer quality overall. The acting was below average, even for this show. Even though Tara was decent, the other women in that community were pretty poor. This was a good side plot to invest an episode in, it's just that the execution was relatively poor. Sand walkers on the bridge was good though.

I think that is what is bothering me the most about this show right now. They are trying to force us to like all these B-listers. I understand why they need to introduce new characters, but it is too contrived.

This is where I think it would benefit to break the story up a bit. They could have used this 10 minute sequence to build some suspense. Show the start of this episode, up until her body washed up on the beach and the girls find it and poke her a bit with a spear. And that's it. Leave us wonder for a week who these people are, what happened to Heath and what will happen to Tara. Then they could cut to Hilltop and The Kingdom. They could have broke these 3 stories into 3 weeks of compelling TV. Telling each story from start to finish in each episode is the issue here.

^ yeah some simultaneous storytelling would help. There was zero suspense or drama in that episode.

I'm assuming Heath will be like Morales from S1. He's the new Jack Bauer in the 24 reboot so they probably just made him "disappear" until they need him again/filming sched opens up.

The last time I wasn't enjoying TWD was in the middle of the farm episodes. Otherwise not a single episode has gone by that I wasn't disappointed when the hour was up. And I enjoy this thread for the information and clarification, so I'm only disappointed when entire pages are about how people keep saying how they dont like the show

I thought they might 'Morgan' him.
Heath must venture deep into the Georgian Wilderness to learn the ways of the Force stick!

I agree that we will see this group again.

I also really enjoyed the episode. Another piece has been added to the board. Just feels like a big strategy game now. Each have specific strengths that they can provide to eventually take out the opposing king in Negan...except Hilltop. But meh they can be the disposable pawn. Let them work the front lines or something lol.

Hilltop is the only place that has a proper Doctor and what medical equipment, at least some imaging.
If you are going to start a war, that is very important.

I liked this episode because it seems to set up another group and creates a whole new set of possibilities. Will they join the heros or become enemies? Will they help to take Negan down? Is there more to them that we don't yet know? Lots of possibilities....

I'm curious - do you think this was a deliberate trap that someone set? Bury a bunch of walkers in sand and set it up so that if someone pulls the backpack out all the sand moves and releases the walkers?
If deliberate, that's a kick-ass trap.

That's be a little difficult to pull off deliberately. Having all those walkers stuck there and having the backpack as the lynch pin?

Right. And if Jesus can overthrow What's his Nuts, then Hilltop could be pretty valuable moving forward.

I'm really late to the game but the Mrs and I finally started watching this. 3 episodes into the 2nd season, and all I can see is Brian Burke...

Naw. It goes by a lot quicker when you are binge watching it without commercials.

That's cool. I'm sure a lot of TWD fans mirror your comments. I'm also a fan of the show but that doesn't mean that it should be off limits to criticism IMO. I don't think you should be overly disappointed in other people's comments as long as you are loving it. You can go to the "recommend a movie" thread and see wildly varying opinions on movies so it's pretty realistic to expect that a long running episodic show will have plenty of differing opinions from episode to episode seeing the quality will vary from show to show.
I didn't dislike this episode as even though it's a classic TWD filler episode I feel it was a required introduction to a new group that may play a role in overthrowing the Saviors. As someone said above the humor was welcomed in a season that's had a bleak feel. Probably my only complaint was the cheap suspense builder at the end of the episode where they put that zombie woman with coincidentally the same hair and the same place as she last saw Heath. That was the only eye rolling moment for me in the episode.

Speaking of that- do we think we will see the Wolves again? If so, are they a splinter group of the Saviors, or will they be part of the group that goes against them? I'm just thinking that a lot of time was spent introducing them, and then we haven't seen them for a while.

They're dead. The wolves were only in about six episodes. They were more of a plot device to allow Rick's group to gain control of Alexandria.
