By that stat, if a player scores the only goal in a 1-0 game, he must have been on the ice for all 60 minutes.

Bennett has 2 assists after 40 minutes against Barrie.
Fronts lead 3-2. They were trailing 2-0 halfway through the first

Leading a comeback after falling behind 2-0? He's really trying to show he belongs in Calgary.

Good stats but doesnt mean much in terms of his NHL success. Sven Bartschi was 2ppg as well in his post draft season. Not saying Bartschi is a bust but veryone expected more.

More impressed with his stamina than his skill. I understand Bennett played 40+ minutes again last night.

Thurs., April 2 at Kingston, 7:00
Fri., April 3 at North Bay, 7:0*
Sun., April 5 at Kingston, 2:00*

guessing he's scratched today and if so his NHLe for his regular season will close at 54
Gaudreau's NHLe was 67
Kane 35
Stamkos 42
Bennett's NHLe in his draft year? 39
So do what you will with draft year with a bum shoulder vs small sample size this year.

54 and a couple years younger. Honestly if Bennett came in next year and put up 54 points I would be ecstatic. For this years team it would make his the 4th highest scoring forward.
On a side note, man is there ever a drop after the first three forwards.

I see the Flames next season as Hudler regressing a touch, Monahan and Gaudreau seem to be the real deal and will likely improve a touch.
Bennett comes in and puts up between 40 and 50 points which in today's league is a solid top six
And the wild card is Backlund and his health. If he can play 77 or so games next season at the level he's played when healthy in the past two he's a 50 point guy as well.
5 50+ point players is a great situation.

Not sure that there is enough ice time (depending on Bennett's progression of course) for 3 different C's to hit that 50 pt plateau...but if it happens, you can book a playoff spot for this club.
As for 5 different players hitting that mark on one team...is there any teams with that occurring this year? St. Louis maybe?

50 pts seems a lot to expect from Backs in a full season. 40 pts I'd be very happy with.

Who has the higher offensive ceiling based on what we have seen so far, Monahan or Bennett?
Can we even make that call right now comparing a tear in the OHL to a 29 goal scorer in the NHL?

Tough to say - I personally see Hudler improving a touch next year. So much of his skill comes from being creative and having great touch with the puck. At 31 I don't think he loses this and now that he has a full season under his belt with Johny and Sean, one would assume chemistry increases going into next year.

comparing them is just a contrast of styles, apples and oranges IMO
monahan plays a quiet hard working intelligent game
nothing quiet about bennett's game
gonna be glad to have em both

Going into last night he was sitting at 25 points in 41 games so an 82 game pace has him at exactly 50 this year and this while having a nagging injury to start the year which eventually put him out for a quarter of the season. He will be on the third line next year but I think a healthy Backlund could push for 50 points next year.
