For those wondering why Hunter Smith is not playing in the game tonight, he is serving game 2 of a 3 game suspension for a hit to the head.

He does. At the development camp, he was in the middle of the pack.

Game over. Fronts win 2-1. Bennett with only 1 assist.

Terrible game for Sam, a bit of a let down and shows why putting him back in junior was the right call. Shows he's not there yet.

If a terrible game for Sam is winning 2-1 while picking up an assist against a team that destroyed them the game before while he didnt play with them after scoring 10 pts in 3 games/ohl player of the week honours/21 points in 9 games. Players have bad games but let's not over look Sams ability here. He's a gamer next year for sure at the NHL level and he will make mistakes there too.

Haha, c'mon guys, it was a joke about how amazing he's been that a 1 assist game seems like a letdown in comparison.

Hmm, did people really need a green text comment to know flames win was being sarcastic?

By my reckoning, he has played 10 and scored a point or more in 9 of them. Not too shabby at all.

Someone told me that Sam Bennett's stats are inflated because he plays 34 minutes a night. I went and looked myself at CHLstats and it seems to be true.

His points per 60 minutes are exactly the same as Draisaitl who plays about 20 minutes a game.

His points per 60 minutes are also well below McDavid and Marner.

Just throwing it out there. Bennett is going to be an awesome player but this also raises some discussion points.

EDIT:

See Oling_Roachinen's post below for clarification. Post #777. Makes this TOI completely irrelevant and a ludicrous stat.

The OHL doesn't track ice time, and there's certainly no way that Bennett is playing 35 minutes a night.

Anyways, if you want to feel old, I just realized Sam Bennett was born after Iginla's NHL debut.

Here's how CHLstats gets their ETOI:

This turns out to work fairly well.
So pretty much because Bennett's line is scoring so many goals they think he is playing a lot.

That creates about the most ridiculous stat ever.

I wonder about the association between the CHL's TOI and the RGI.

Assuming something does not make it true. Major failing of that unofficial TOI stat.
