There'll be a few Senate seats open soon, maybe Rob Ford and Harper can do a deal...

When's the last time you saw Nenshi and Harper go golfing?

Toronto Sun giving away free special editions this afternoon...
Quote:
We are not lying!
The Toronto Sun is publishing a special afternoon edition of the newspaper Thursday for distribution free of charge at select downtown locations.
The 28-page edition will be jam-packed with startling revelations about the alleged video showing Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine.
Toronto Police Chief Bill Blair announced Thursday that forensic experts were able to retrieve from a computer a deleted video consistent with one media outlets have been reporting on through the summer.
Also included in the special edition will be information from police documents released Thursday in the case of accused drug dealer Sandro Lisi, Ford's friend and occasional driver, who's now been charged with extortion related to a video file.

Kinda weird, but the Sun knows how to capitalize on a story.

Well I have been looking for a place to get a totally legit massage from a woman who wasn't kidnapped from her family in Cambodia next time I'm in Toronto.

I still have a hard time believing that a rich old guy was filmed smoking crack.
I don't follow Toronto politics much at all and am not really up on drug culture, but everything I have gleaned from watching The Wire tells me that only poor people smoke crack while Blow taught me that the rich prefer cocaine.
I really don't know what to think any more.

When is the last time any mayor of Calgary been seen hanging out with PMs outside of a Stampede Pancake breakfast? Semi-serious question, cause I don't actually know the answer.

You would probably be surprised how many functional crack users there are out there. A lot of the sterotypes are created on TV and in movies. The idea that anyone who smokes crack automatically becomes a skinny little fiend is just a myth.
I have personally never touched the stuff (I'm scared I would be one of those rare cases that have cardiac arrest the first time), but I know a few people who do smoke crack on occasion. At least one was a lawyer and the other is a very successful business owner.

Well obviously there's a difference between an occasional crack smoker and someone who abuses it.
if they do abuse it then no it's no myth. They do turn into little skinny fiends. And smoking it occasionally makes you a fat mayor of a large city, if we are going to go by anecdotal evidence.

It will be interesting to see how the Toronto Police react to this, they are pretty much obligated to open a full investigation of the mayors office. Or does the RCMP step in due to a conflict of interest?

That's my point. There were some comments earlier that claimed that there are no "occasional" crack smokers and that people become instant fiends the moment they try it. As long as people have the financial means to support the habit, they won't look like what people think a typical user looks like (re: the comments on earlier here where some people thought he was too fat to be someone who uses crack).
The only reason that the face of crack is what it is, is because it is cheap enough that street people can get it, and those are the ones that have to choose crack over food. Someone like Rob Ford doesn't have to choose.
