Do you get anything for each other at any other time of the year and if so, why not now?
Ah, forgedaboutit.

Sorry to hear about your dogs. Pictures of them frolicking about was always one of my favourite ancillary benefits of posting on CP. Looked like great companions.

Thank you. Twenty-six days apart in late October/late November. Cancer and quickly. Sad times but we're moving on now.
We'll add some new furry bums in late Spring.
A co-worker was just wandering around with his new 10 week old furry Retriever/something puppy a few minutes ago. Nothing like puppy smell and puppy hair!!

I got my wife and iPod Touch 32GB and a Bodum coffee maker. We only really get gifts for each other.
For her family we do a $50 limit for one person (gift exchange) and my family gets a lotto ticket in the stocking. We did actually buy a 35mm negative film scanner for my parents. We then donate quite a bit to charity...this year we're going with the Nature Conservancy of Canada.

A dustpan. Last year I got her a broom and I got tired of watching her sweep everything into her hands, so I thought I'd do her a solid.

I am curious if you will go with the same breed.
I know I am pretty loyal to brands that treat me well.

We'd probably be looking for Golden females that are owner surrenders/rescues . . . . but those aren't falling off trees. Keeper was an owner surrender while Abby came to us as an original.
We'll see.
Before we got them, we both independently looked through various dog books and breed descriptions and Golden's came out as both of our top choices . . . . so we were on the same page back then and I would be surprised if we didn't go that way again. The breed suits us quite well for temperment and size.
Unfortunately/fortunately, our later Spring/early Summer period is probably right about the time when all those Christmas puppies will start showing up. About 50% of puppies, I think I read somewhere, are looking for new homes within the first year, people overwhelmed by the responsibility or lacking the ability to deal with the little terrorist they've taken on.
Have a good Xmas

I filled her car with gas. Well, not the entire car - just the gas tank. I'm a good husband.

We make a much bigger deal out of our birthdays then normal people tend to do.
Christmas is the worst holiday for us for numerous reasons - I accidentally let my bitterness hit the post button earlier today.
The best present we give each other is peace and quiet. We get more out of each other then we would out of anything we give each other (if that makes any sense at all).
Between not having kids and hating Christmas, most Calgarians tend to give us the stink eye. Apparently we are doing it wrong...

Good for you.
I recall my Mom used to get angry if she got something for the house, and not something specifically for her. One time my Dad got her a hassock for her birthday, and then proceeded to put his feet up on it and read the newspaper. Then the following Christmas my Mom got back at him by giving him the living room drapes.
Although I must admit some folks have a different take on the matter.

Really sorry to hear that. It is tough to lose friends and you obviously had a close relationship with yours. I do look forward to some great puppy shots though.

The better half and I decided that we would not buy each other anything this year and instead buy a new TV together. I picked it up today!

Last Christmas he wasn't talking yet and didn't know what presents were.....this year he's added a new word every other day since Sept on his birthday. Its pretty emotional for us so I cannot wait

We are also in the 'no Xmas present' group. We just buy each other gifts throughout the year - if we see it and we want it then we get it. We both have our birthdays within the month before Xmas so we are pretty well gifted up by then. Suits us very well.

Small is relative, I guess. I gave her enough to get by the 'spend this much to get free shipping' part at some of her favorite online stores. It was a huge hit, and she's happily sitting at her computer now figuring out how she's going to spend it.
