I'm not worried about the quantity of artillary that the North Korean's have aimed at Seoul, I more worried about the type of artillary.
North Korea is very active in the chemical and biological weapons research areas, and probably have the biggest stockpile of that stuff in the world ranging from old fashion mustard gas and chlorine, right up the the more exotic binary chemical weapons where a single drop on your arm will kill you. They also have a lot of persistant chemical weapons that won't break down after a set period of time.
If North Korea decided that they were going to go fight in a war that they can't win over the long term, it wouldn't take much to mix some of this stuff in with regular artillary.
While properly trained soldiers can fight and survive in a BC environment though its not pleasant. It would be incredibly destructive on a large civillian base.

Carriers are fantastic. Nothing better than having a piece of portable sovereign real estate that includes an airfield and nuclear weapons depot.
The ultimate big stick.

There's a great book at chapters called Carriers at war which goes through the whole history of naval aviation, its a really good read.
But to be honest, as much as I think carriers are the $$$$, I'm more into submarine warfare. It just seems like you get more of the crazies in that service.

I have that book, got it on sale at coles for 20 bucks
The author is quite the guy, he starts out as a gunner in WWII, graduates to flying A-4's I think, then commanded a carrier and is instrumental in the design and building of the the first nuclear class carrier Nimitz. This kind of graduation is unheard of today.
I think he was in the movie "Top Gun" as well.

I seriously hope they do some covert ops and remove the leaders of DPRk... seriously they have to do something before this gets out of hand.

Watching CNN yesterday they seem to think with the elder Kim passing the torch down now the military leaders are calling the shots, by all accounts they are freaking nut-bars that hate that the war is in a stalemate. I doubt any special ops would be able to take them all.

Its sad that all the NK generals believe all their own propaganda if thats the case. NK really has no hope of ever winning a war with the south given all the international support the south has.

In the war the south had the wests support as well, maybe they think Russia and China will give them the same as they did back then? Problem is they have nukes and if they feel the pinch they are probably crazy enough to use them.

Apparently from a paper published by a site linked to NK, they are not counting on Russian or Chinese support this time around. As expected from NK sources, the whole thing reads like a crazie's propaganda report. Quoting relavent exerpt so no one else has to read that brain rotting drival.

Second, North Korea expects no help from China, Russia, or other nations in case of war with the US. It knows that it will be fighting the superpower alone. Nominally, China and Russia are North Korea's allies but neither ally is expected to provide any assistance to North Korea in case of war. Neither nation can or is willing to protect North Korea from attacks by the US, and North Korea alone can and will protect itself from US attacks. This principle of self-defense applies to all nations.

Not true. Paint is neutral. Palin makes the people around her dumber, hence she's negative. Having said that, lead paint and Palin might be comparable.

There's no way China or Russia gets involved in a war on the side of the N. Koreans if the N. Koreans instigate it, IMO. Too much riding on it to support a nation that, to all intents and purposes, is almost as big a thorn in their sides as it is for the West. Risk possible nuclear war with a hyperpower because of some psycho midget in a backwoods, rundown cesspool of a country? I don't think so. Especially not if the N. Koreans level all of Seoul with artillery. The world's too different from the state it was in during the Cold War for that to happen, I believe.
