Gusto's was great. I used to eat there all the time. Not really a diner though. More like a family style Italian joint.

It is for sale right now I think.

ps. Not run by Indians. Never seen anything but white people working there.
I'm sure Amorak was just being racist because it's located in Temple.

They have a smoke meat poutine? i was there a few weeks back and i just had the regular poutine, which was the best poutine i have had in calgary.

And too crappy. I find both their food and service to be cruddy.

Wow! That does surprise me. I have only been there four times but always had a really good time (food and service) - perhaps you should come with me next time I go?

Thanks for the heads up about Smokey Lea's. I've been trying to find a good Reuben downtown and I think i've finally found it.

Never really been impressed by A&A. Tazza makes a much higher quality Shawarma/Shishtaouk IMO.

I'd recommend Jonas' Restaurant on 6th Ave S.W.

What about the Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus? I haven't been there in 7 or 8 years, but they made some tasty food.

I tried "Big T's Barbeque" two weeks ago by the stadium. Great ribs.

Lido Cafe in Kensington would fit perfectly in this show.

I gave it two cracks and both times walked out unimpressed. Their Eggs Benny is terrible.

No love for Diner Deluxe on Edmonton Trail? Always a line-up for brunch, and some interesting menu items...

Have any of you guys watched the show before? The mentioned places do nothing new or vastly improved over what I have seen on that show, not even close.

Been meaning to grab lunch here for a while. Apparently the best poutine and Montreal smoked meat sandwiches in Calgary.
Went there today was OK, but nothing special. Had a smoked meat sandwich and the smoked meat poutine. I have had better poutine at the Crossroad's flea market.

Wow, some of you would hate the smoked meat sandwiches in Montreal then, because these are what the authentic one's taste like and the poutine for that matter.
