I don't post a lot but I wanted to give my two cents here. Whether or not you like her music doesn't get in the way of the fact that she has done what millions of others would love to do. She has made herself famous and rich by creating this persona that has captured the attention of a large number of people. Is it completely original? Of course not. But she has written and produced catchy music that has been overwhelmingly succesful. Anytime I hear a song of hers it gets stuck in my darn head for ages. She can write, play and when not using electronic devices she actually has a decent voice. To write her off as a gimic that is just going to fade away is premature considering this is her first album. If her and her people continue to keep doing all the right things she may be around for quite a while. Probably long enough for some of the gimmick to fade away and we might really get to see what she is like as an artist. All that said, at this moment in time, she bothers the hell out of me.

well that is original

I guess claiming something is original is really just ones' opinion.

I would imagine if I heard one of your choices I might say it sounds like XX

I would say she's a gimmick that will not fade away quickly, but none the less a complete gimmick.
And if all it takes these days to get credit, is to package something well and sell it to the masses of ass*s, then I guess credit to her. In my world, you have to do more than make lots of money to be respected.

LOL, didn't you ask me this a couple months ago after I said I didn't like Vampire Weekend?
Who by the way have grown on me somewhat, and I like some stuff now.

Off the top of my head, Interpol, Arcade Fire for sure; maybe Massive Attack and the National before that??
I haven't got too much lately, so don't remember the exact 5 but that's 4 fairly recent and I just downloaded the new Eminem but haven't listened to it yet.
