The thing with Lady Gaga is that she writes the songs, produces the songs, designs the live show, designs the costumes...so to me at least it doesn't come across as a manufactured whore-fest like Britney Spears and such. Its more like being sucked into her eff'd up imagination which is a combination of pop music, psycadellics, and that crazy circus from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

And I most definately agree about Iron Maiden. They have continued to make album after album exploring new territory and continuing to tour to play the new material to fans all over the world. I for one, think its cool that a bunch of doods who are in their 50's+ can still be so committed to composing and performing at such a high calibre.
I get your point about ACDC, and they are a little gimmicky, but I don't really listen for the drum beat, the guitar work is quite awesome and thats why I'm a fan of it.

With Gaga, I get that she writes her songs and designs the costumes, but to me if your writing the songs and designing the custumes for the same old thing which is the pop path your not exactly innovative, and being weird for weirds sake is more of a distraction then blazing new and bold territories.

Its pretty clear that Gaga studied Madonna's early work, but the difference is the genuine ability of Madonna to change her look and sound and trailblaze.

Gaga to me is more of a follower then a trailblazer.

And looking at her songs and lyrics I'm not so sure that she should be advertising that she's the writer.

And looking at a meat dress, I'm not so sure she should be advertising that she's the designer.

Weird <> good unless your Kate Bush.

lol every time the topic of Lady Gaga pops up, CC goes off on a rant about the exact same thing. If you don't like her/music then just ignore it.

Geez, I could have sworn that the off topic board was a place to exchange opinions and ideas? Hmmm, could I be that wrong?

Do I need a Lady Gaga poker face membership card to stay here?

Do what you want, doesn't bother me. I just find it really funny that you get bent out of shape everytime the topic comes up, thats all.

Keep entertaining me

From reading the thread, it seems more like the Gaga fans get bent out of shape. They're insecure about the fact that they like this junk, so they keep coming up with excuses to justify it to themselves.
"she writes her own songs" "she makes her own costumes" "she makes lots of money"

If you need all of these excuses to like a pop act, I'd call that bent out of shape. Either like it with pride and admit you like generic pop music, or find music that actually is original and talented; but don't pretend she's it.

Eventually Lady Gaga's preteen to teen girl fans and furiously masterbating teenage male fans will grow up an move on to listen to actual talented musical talents and Lady Gaga will fade back to doing reunion tours in Podunk Iowa where she'll play her 5 most popular songs over and over again.

Then she will wake up as a 50 year old has been singing Poker face in small pubs for quarters.

But at least she'll be able to eat her dress.
The only thing you forgot to mention in this post is that she'll have made hundreds of millions of dollars with those 5 most popular songs. If you could write, perform, and market something that earned you hundreds (100s) of millions (1,000,000s) of dollars ($$), wouldn't you?

You sound a bit jealous.

Jealous of what?

I never said I could write songs, or perform on a professional level.

Good for her for finding a niche in mediocre at best music.

My talents allow me to make a good living, and I don't have to wear a meat helmet to do it.

the only thing that myself and Lady Gaga have in common is we both have a penis.

I think its sort of teeny-boppy girly to talk about or even care what celebrates wear or do. What a big waste of time. I only clicked on this thread, cause I thought there would be something kinky.

It's not jealousy... it's the fact that her super annoying music/image/news/drama gains more and more momentum because people keep buying it.

I liken this to twilight. It is empty, self absorbed crap that got stupidly popular because it's a random phenominon. It's annoying as hell and you can't hide from it. It's not a jealousy thing... its a frustration with how stupid and sheep-like people can be.

I honestly didn't know what Twilight was until 1 month ago. I also managed to avoid ever knowing who that reality show TV couple with 12 kids was all about (forgot their name) too.I guess its just that your friends like listening to Lady Gaga and watching Twilight then.

Well some people would say the same thing about hockey.

I was just bugging the captain because his post sounded bitter. You guys are free to hate whatever you want, it's just amusing to me when scenarios are made up about people singing for nickles after making hundreds of millions of dollars.

Meh, I hate no one.

I just believe that pop music and Lady Gaga were created by the U.S. department of defense to control young minds through rampant consumerism and meat.
