Vancouver is a great city but I would be defending whichever city it was if the criticisms against it were this lame.
a canuck fan born and raised in calgary...what went wrong?

how do us calgarians prevent this oddity in the gene pool from happening again?

Mayer knows. I lived 8 great years in Calgary, up until two years ago. I like the place. It's the petty bashing just because it's Vancouver that is sad and pathetic, and unbecoming of Canadians.
