Yup it's really good - but I like my Benny on an english muffin - at DD it's done on toast. But it's still a really good place as well.

I have to get the recipe from my mom, and then I will share it. It's the highlight of Christmas season for me.

Yeah... Last time I was there, all my fruit was sour as all heck, my melon still had seeds and my kiwi was half peeled. There was also very little fruit in total. It was not worth it. I don't get the hype at all.

The amount of fruit on the plate varies significantly based on what you order. Some of the breakfasts have a very substantial amount of fruit. I sometimes base my main order on how much fruit I feel like having that day. They arrange the fruit on the plate in a decorative style and a half peeled kiwi can part of the decoration. However, this does not excuse the sour fruit & melon seeds. I've never experienced that, but I have had under-ripe fruit.

I got 4 pieces of fruit that looked like it was just thrown on. If it was artfully arranged, it was abstract art. And my friend got 3 pieces. I think that's really sparse when the menu says it comes with a large amount of fruit. The thing is, I would have dismissed it if it had only been once, but I've actually been there 4 times and each time it was bad.

Well, your experience is different than mine. I've found them relatively consistent. I wouldn't say that Cora's is my favourite breakfast place, but I think it is pretty good. I found that that one thing they do better than most is the quantity of fruit (again, depending on what you order).

Actually, I just realized that I have a picture of the brie & mushroom Eggs Benny from Cora's from a couple of years ago. It is currently my computer desktop picture.

Wow, that looks delicious... I've never gotten that much fruit before. Which location did you go to? All 4 times I was at Northland. Maybe other locations are better.

Yeah, I kind of feel the same way. It was particularly jarring the first time I had them, but I still ordered them again the next time. The toast kind of grew on me.

My wife makes the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had, though. The Hollandaise is lemony, fluffy and thick (not runny like it often is) and has a hint of tabasco.

I keep asking her to make them again, but she's holding off on account of my cholesterol or something.

I grow some of my own fruit, so what I got from Cora's was a letdown. Having said that I can't see how anybody wouldn't view the fruit as anything but pedestrian - the strawberries in particular are those horrible hard, barely ripened varieties shipped from California that I eat as a last resort in winter.

Also, their menu is pedestrian. I think places like Diner Deluxe and even Cafe Artigiano do breakfast way, way, way better.

The only Calgary location I have tried is on 130th Ave SE, which is where this picture was taken.
