This is my concern with the rumored addition of twitter support to the new itunes. Twitter is already getting to be a pretty crowded pool. Not sure we need 3 million "I'm listening to X by Z!" tweets every day.

Can't decide what is going to be a bigger disappointment this Christmas: not getting a new PS3 slim or not getting an iPhone.

Sweet. Placed a pre-order today for the new slim.
I was lamenting at the size of the original in trying to fit it in my TV stand with my other electronics last week. The timing is perfect, actually.

Well, I picked one up from ebgames at northland after selling my old one to a friend. It's waaaaay more quite which is what I wanted. My old one was really loud and extremely annoying during movies.

A question for all you guys abou the Bravia Sync feature. This sounds great to control your ps3 via a normal remote, however can it turn the ps3 on? I have a Sony Bravia LCD btw.
here is a deal if you want the new ps3, trade in any 60/80gig ps3 + 2 games + $50 and you get the ps3 slim. I'm wondering if it needs to be the ps3's w/ BC and 4 usb ports, or any ps3 w/ a 80gig hd? Anyone know? I have two ps3's, would love to trade in the 2 usb port for the new one!

You really think with $50/month 15mbps Internet and 1Tb drives for under $99 that disk based media will be around alot longer and not turn into DLC?
You bet on BluRay, I will place my bet on DLC - we will see which one is winning in 10 years.

people still buy CD's even though napster made downloading songs easy 10 years ago and itunes made digitcal media even more popular. heck regarding music, people still buy vinyl because they like it more.
disc based media is going nowhere fast. i think digital downloads will continue growing, but they won't be the norm for some time.

I'm not an anti Sony gamer so I don't want to get in the middle of your pi$$ing match..
but I buy one multipack of batteries (about 20 batteries) and it lasts me well over a year. Maybe I don't game as much as most but I find standard batteries in the xbox controllers last forever. I only have to change them after several months. The battery packs and chargers are a rip off.

What service do you use to get DLC right now? Shaw on demand or something from the apple store? I'm curious to know how big your collection is right now.

No offense to anyone thinking of doing this, but this is a terrible deal. Honestly, the old PS3's are the exact same, why get a new one? (My 60GB is actually better since it has the BC chip, and more USB ports, etc.), plus 2 games, and $50. I could sell my 60GB for more than $300.

The only reasonable explanation would be power consumption.
Gizmodo had a nice comparison of the 2 and halving the power cost of running the unit, might be cheaper in the long run.
Also, if I had a 40 gb unit, or the newer 80gb one with only 2 usb ports, it would be worthwhile.

I might be more tempted if it was trade your xbox 360 and 2 games. I would like a Ps3 slim but I don't want all the systems since I also have the Wii. All the games I really like are available on both systems anyways.

Well, I definatley wouldn't trade my ps3's that has BC, that would be a really bad idea... But there are a few features that the new one has that I'm looking forward too, and is worth $50 + 2 games I never play anymore (To me).
1. Bravia Sync... can control the ps3 via universal remote.
2. Quiter - my PS3 fan gets pretty noisy
3. Power Consumption - not going to make a huge difference but every bit helps.
4. Bigger HD - not a huge deal but hey, its bigger
5. Extends the warrenty - mine is out, so getting a new one would give me another warrenty
6. Bitstreaming - not a huge deal since the other can decode to PCM, but its "nice to have"
7. I'm a sucker for new gadgets
I can see why some people would think its a waste, but for me it'd be worth it ASSUMING they will take the one that isn't BC. Plus I've already imported all my RB songs into RB2, so thats like not even trading in a game.

In all honesty I barely notice the sound while playing games but during quiet scenes in movies I can hear it. Again, I'm not sure whether to chalk it up to ambient temperature or just poor hardware design. I can't for the life of me remember if it made this sound during the winter and colder months of summer.
Also, the backwards compatibilty is nice to have since I do have all the Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter games which I would like to play again but it's not a deal breaker.
The bitstreaming would be nice to but it doesn't serve any advantage over the current way the PS3 decodes HD audio. From what I understand the only thing I will notice would be now the light on my receiver would display DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD rather than what it currently displays (which I also forgot).

If you have the original 60GB PS3 with the PS2 chip in it, DO NOT DO THAT DEAL.
You can sell it on eBay for AT LEAST $300, probably more. Those are in high demand.
