I'm no Pelosi fan, but that's not what she's implying.
She's pointing out the hyperbole in the protesters. They're bringing Nazi imagery to protest the health care plan as an evil entity. That's not saying someone is a Nazi.

I would imagine that article was written by David Limbaugh, Rush's little brother and a "journalist" at newsmax. The fact that Newsmax, one of the most right wing publications in Merica and Fox News, one of the most right wing news stations in Merica are the only one's picking up on this story makes it even less credible to me. I think most journalist realized that she was referring to the individuals carrying the signs and not the opponents of health care in the USA as being Nazi's.

Make it an option. If you want federal healthcare, take it and pay more tax. If you don't, don't.
This posturing from both sides is just stupid. When will either side get the balls to work with one another instead of pandering to special interests?

Just as a sidenote that is kind of on topic:

Stephen Hawking was used by some to attack the NHS, saying that if he were to live in the UK he would not 'have a chance'. He does live in England and recieves care from the NHS.

Kind of tough to keep things civil when the word 'moron' is used in the thread title...

beat me to it. Seems a little unjust to expect posters to be civil and dignified considering the tone set by the thread title.

Well in fairness to the Conservatives that used him as an example, his voice box does not have a British accent, an easy mistake for any reputable Conservative newspaper to make.

Systems of this magnitude simply cannot work on that basis though. It's one way or another. Without the majority paying into national health care, national health care doesn't have the funding.
I can't understand how this can't work in the US when it seems to do a pretty good job in other countries. Definitely sounds like the HMO's are organizing such opposition.

Oh please. Unless someone here is related to Nancy Pelosi I have a very difficult time believing the title caused a raise in anyone's bloodpressure.
How many Bush is a moron threads did we have?
Very, very weak argument guys.

"Oh please" yourself... what argument is being made?
It seems to me a thread with the phrase "Person X is a moron" is going to attract people who have an axe to grind (legitimate or otherwise) about that person. That's fine by me - those threads can be pretty productive in politics.
My point was that a thread clearly like that is going to be pretty heated and there will be some venting, so trying to shift the discussion (which actually was pretty tame imo) into a presumably more 'civilized' register after-the-fact seems a little unfair and contrary to the point of the thread.

And you're telling me that a bunch of Canadians have strong opinions (axes to grind) regarding Nancy Pelosi? Really?

For shame. I bet Obama will personally slaughter the first baby born after this legislation passes.
It's unbelievable how sheepish so many people in the States are to believe right wing lies. I guess they prefer a system that bankrupts them and denies care to a significant percentage. I guess they don't care about their fellow countrymen. Larry Wilmore on the Daily Show summarized it perfectly last night: a hysterical woman in a town hall meeting cried that she wanted her "America" back. Larry Wilmore said "tell that to the Natives."
Thank God I'm Canadian.

You're telling me! That's why I have been eating up all the left wing truths!

You shouldn't anticipate any opinion, but the post that I responded to initially says you have.

DFF has a point when he points to a double standard with Bush when complaining about calling Pelosi a moron. I just do not think it is that big of a deal. When having conversations on the internet regarding explosive subjects, I think a little leeway is needed in allowing for partisan rhetoric.
And yes, both sides have their crazies and propaganda machines, but that does not excuse former Governor and VP nominee Palin and prominent US senators from spewing garbage about 'death panels'.

no, it doesn't. And neither does the second post I provided for clarification wherein I used the term "after-the-fact". The thread title is relevant to the tone a thread takes, but certainly not decisive. The moderation comment was made a few pages in after the thread got a little heated. That heat, which I think can be a good thing (and was here, though I may be wrong), was totally in keeping with the OP and the thread title.
I'm not criticizing the OP or the other posters in this thread at all. If I'm guilty of anything, it's perhaps exaggerating the civility requested by the moderator. But you're not complaining about that are you?

Nope, not at all.
I am pretty sure Ag was criticizing the thread title though, and you supported his comment. If he chimes in and says otherwise I guess I was off base.
It sure looked to me like he was insinuating that people would be upset by Nancy Pelosi being called a moron and that the moderators should expect that based on the inciteful language in the thread title.
I don't think that's a stretch at all.
