Really? All those posts were deleted because someone talked about their infraction? Holy 1984 much. What is this the ministry of truth?

Well infractions are private, so if someone doesn't want to talk about them they shouldn't have to, and if after the discussion that went on the two of them decided to keep it all private then that's fine. Not sure if that's the case, but that would be my guess.

1984? You do realize this is a private forum, freedom of speech isn't applicable.

No, posts were deleted because the person who started that train of thought realized that it would probably have been better to leave the matter of an infraction private.

Which is why we make them private to begin with.

If anybody has a question about an infraction, PM the person back who issued it. (Preferably with something more than just "well- you suck!") Or PM the mod account so we can all look at it. Or if there is a mod you are friends with PM him.

As said before in this thread, infractions are there so mods can sort out the madness. The userbase has grown leaps and bounds in the 5 years I've been here. I often see posters with 1000 posts who I don't know who they are.

It's like getting a 2 minute penalty. Unless you are leading the team in penalty minutes, it really isn't an issue.

Wonder who became a mod in 2006?
The posted guidelines which cover insults were written in 2004, so two years is hardly no warning...

Did the mods start tightening up on some things over time, yeah probably. Things change over time.

9 years ago when it was a small group, it was easier to let things get a little offside and not have a big problem, because the people involved were (sometimes) mature enough to go at it, but also know when to let it drop and know when to move on.

With so many more people now, many people do not have that ability and will take an argument across threads, across time, stalk their opponent, etc.. so it becomes more difficult to let one person do something while not letting another person do the same thing (because they don't know when to quit).

Things change over time, that's how it goes.

Bingo posted recently that we'd probably gone too far down that path so we're trying to allow more confrontation and emotion, as long as its focused on the discussion and not directed at the person.

In Ancient Greece, colonies were sometimes founded by vanquished peoples, who left their homes to escape subjection at the hand of a foreign enemy; sometimes as a sequel to civil disorders, when the losers in internecine battles left to form a new city elsewhere; sometimes to get rid of surplus population, and thereby to avoid internal convulsions
Time to send the ship out guys. We start a new CP colony and then we can decrease all the issues we've had related to the population explosion. I knew being a History major would come in handy!

I know others have already replied but to be absolutely crystal clear - the posts were deleted at the request of the user that made the posts....not because the moderators wanted them deleted.

I'd actually like to see the same infractions expire over time, maybe even based on thanks or skill points or something.

im like the selke award winner ashamed of my 2 infractions...

I remember the day when the magical, hidden forum was revealed to me by mistake. It was full of porn and links to streaming television and pipe bomb plans and Reqqie Dunlop had the most posts.

I felt awful for reading about all you guys so I promptly PMd Photon to give me access to the design forum he was supposed to give to me originally.

When Jiri hits it big and moves to TSN or CBC can I replace him on the Mod team? Or at the very least take his spot on the uber forum?

Only if you actually assume my user name - so people would never actually know if it was the original Jiri or not...

In fact maybe I'm not even the original Jiri!

Actually, whenever we need a new Jiri we just head down to Cash Corner and hire the cheapest person we can find. 3 of the last 4 Jiri's have been Mexican- those guys work for nothing!

Very wise, I would never cower to a mod named Grant, sounds like a pushover.

I heard the character Jacob on Lost is based on Jiri. Also the idea for two Becky's on Rosanne came from the unknown legend of multiple Jiris.
