I'm inclined to agree. I have a large circle of very close friends. To be more accurate, several large circles of very close friends. I have close friends from various schools, friends of those friends, work, and just from growing up where I did.

What I like about having a large group of close friends, is that if someone's busy on weekend, someone else is free, or you can go away and hang out with friends away, there's no need of planning a road trip around who can come as there will be people there when you get there.

That said I also love, and need, my "me-time". I'm a reflective person, I need to go over what's going on in my life in my head, if I don't get that personal reflective time, or time vegging watching TV, surfing the net, getting my mind off things, or like everyone else here visiting the Internet Crack Site called forum.calgarypuck.com then I'm just not the same person, calm, relaxed, laid back person that I usually am.

I personally need a balance, but try to keep myself open enough that if you need something or someone to grab a bite to eat with, a coffee, or a beer with, I try to be there.

You know, it's amazing that if you're there for people when they need you, how often they'll be there for you.

Live your life, try and be as happy as possible (or merely content if that's what you want), be nice to people, treat them as you would want them to treat you, and don't be afraid to smile, joke, and laugh.

one more thing I thought I should mention.

There's nothing better than getting over a fear. Greatest feeling in the world. Mind you there's nothing worse than, trying and not getting over it. Makes the fear that much worse. However with something like meeting new people, people are very receptive, it's not really an issue of concern as much as it might feel like it.

Yup, I agree. That's standard operating procedure with friends - what you put into it, you can expect to receive. If you listen to their stories, concerns, and emotions, then they will most likely be inclined to listen to yours. After breaking up with my girlfriend, I didn't even shed a single tear because I have a great group of friends I can rely on, and they were the first ones to react in kind after I helped them through their relationship issues.

Friendships shouldn't (and aren't) always about providing therapy sessions, but its something a good friend can do without complaining about it.

For girls, just take a chance. Dont be afraid to make an a$$ out of yourself. If you crash and burn so be it, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

As per friends, I am not too interested in making new friends. Aquaintances and people you go play hockey with sure, friends, I already have enough.

Reminds me of a line a buddy of mine said when he asked out a girl once.

Girl: Let's just be friends
Guy: No thanks, I have enough f*****g friends!
