Wow Gilroy. That was god tier. And what a flex to end on a "slow" yet profound note that transitioned beautifully into the movies we all know and love.
That entire series was hands down the best SW project since the Empire Strikes Back, and I thought it flowed beautifully into Rogue One and the rest of the OG trilogy. Outstanding work from everyone involved.
Also I’d say that this officially puts the “Kathleen Kennedy ruined Star Wars” narrative to bed. What are all the nerds gonna be angry about now? This series was peak SW and a hell of a lot cooler and more interesting than anything Filoni ever came up with.
She did a lot of damage before it, and that's what will be remembered.
Gilroy and co. are who get credit for Andor. Not KK who purposefully timed her exit with Andor to look like she went out on on a high note.
The SW Rebels guys have their work cut out for them to produce anything in the ball park of this quality.
I'm guessing Ahsoka season 2 goes back to fan service and cheap callbacks to try to bolster its critical reception. Going to look like a circus show by comparison.

Sigh, Andor will be missed.
The SW Rebels guys don't have the talent to do anything close to Andor. But I've made peace with it since coming to the conclusion it's basically young adult fiction. They made it live action to try to capture the kids (now adults) who grew up with the Clone wars, but mostly the creative team is out of their depth in adult content.
To have the ending of your show be simply a woman holding a baby in a field for a long shot and massive emotional impact would just never occur to any of the other show runners or writers.
"A New Hope" indeed.

Just watched the final episode, that last scene ripped my heart out in all the best ways.
Looking forward to rewatching this series many times.
In a good world, a just world, the people charged with the next Star Wars project would look at Andor as a benchmark to be surpassed.
The likelihood of that however...as Star Wars fans...is low.
I'll admit, I was not overly enthused about the Andor series when it was proposed, but at the same time I can acknowledge when its knocked out of the park.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
Just an utterly incredible series. Easily one of if not the best Star Wars thing ever. Puts the childish prequels and the goofy sequels to shame. Elizabeth Dulau in her first acting role as Kleya was a scene stealer, and that's acting against Stellen Skarsgard for petes sake.

It's pretty apples and oranges given they're two different formats of media, but also the given the eras they were made in, which were decades apart.
Movies have much, much less screen time to flesh things out, so it's easy to look at what a movie did versus a show and say the movie's characters and motivations are undercooked by comparison. Given those factors and limitations, Empire is still one of the best. For 1980 it's still truly an impressive feat of visuals, world building, characters, and a script chock full of zingy and quotable one-liners we still drop today.
I think I'd just boil it down to: Andor is the best of Star Wars TV (by many light years), and Empire is the best of Star Wars cinema.
