Canucks goalie saved it to be fair...but hey they lasted more than 4 seconds unlike Montreal. Honestly Wolf seems great in 3 on 3 like even last night he didn't give up the goal, he rarely gets beat clean ever. Get a little OT scoring at that turns the record around quick.

I am pretty optimistic based on how they handled it this year.

We have a team that is performing well above their talent level competing for a playoff spot, and we have two first round picks in the next two drafts. In the past management would have been fooled by the successs mirage and treated the picks like they were burning a hole in their pocket. A lot of temptation to spend for a playoff run.

But management they did not get stary eyed and spend. No trade dealine acquisitions. Even the big Frost trade was not that big, and did not sell the future to try and win now. I get that selling at deadline could have been nice (assuming good deals existed), but seeing this team resist buying and keep pieces for the future is a huge improvement.

Excited to see how they draft this year, keeping up rhe good drafting is going to be key. And we might even get a round of unexpected playoffs to enjoy too.

Time for players like Zary, Frost and Weegar to get lion's share of the ice time.
Is Huberdeau band defensively? I don't think he is. He was left out to dry by Kadri, Weegar and Anderson last night trying to do everything themselves.

Kadri is a disaster in 3 on 3 everytime he's out there..

Huberdeau isn’t bad defensively from a stick position or effort point of view, which is why he’s on the PK. He’s not a guy who can catch anyone from behind though, which is also why he got stuck out there for such long shifts - he couldn’t race to the bench on the long change. He did pretty well as the sole defender on the two on one in OT.

Kadri is a funny 3 on 3 guy. he seems patient - leaving the zone etc. But then makes a bad decision.

Weegar and Andersson are bad for trying a rush with a one and done shot - the opposite of good 3 on 3 play.

The Flames don’t have any elite skaters with skill. Their fastest guys are Pospisil and Lomberg (also Costco but he’s not here) and those guys aren’t seeing 3 on 3.

Flames just don't have elite talented personnel to put out in OT. There's not much more to read into the situation.
