Dulclair as part of the package is fine. There will be salary that needs to be swapped. Center piece not so much

Seems that the Hanifin talks are really heating up. Might see a deal happen today.

I think he projects solidly as a Lindholm replacement

I really liked Forsling in the playoffs, if that means anything.

Well Lebrun is definitely greasing the wheels for some better offers as he flat out states that some offers are likely better. As in these guys who are low balling Conroy can eff off.

Flames selling: veterans on one year deals are at rock bottom value, practically being given away for the cap space.
Flames buying: Could I interest you in a 25 year old top 4 D for 15 games of the broken down, $3 million husk of Duclair?

I was referring to Duclair. Why would you even entertain the player as more than a throw in? He's a UFA next summer. A deal like this with the Panthers just reeks of a move to try and get Huberdeau going and has nothing to do with getting the best return.

Former 12th overall pick. In his rookie year (20 year old year) he had 44 points in 65 games, last year had a bit of a sophomore slump getting 33 points in 73 games. Turns 22 right before the season starts.

We’ll give Zito the 4th we get from Buffalo for Hanifin to get Duclair.

Based on this, why would Florida want or need to move him?

Hanifin is also a UFA next summer. I guess Conroy would get an indication from Duclair's camp about his willingness to re-sign.

They wouldn't, and I doubt he's on the table!

Stating a fact. Duclair should not be the centerpiece of a Hanifin trade, but suggesting he is worth a 3rd or a 4th is pretty silly

Because he's behind Barkov and Bennett and by all accounts they are interested in Hanifin, who is a great top 4 defenceman with outstanding underlying stats?
Is it too much to ask that other teams have to give to get the Flames' best players?

Nice playoff progression too. 1pt in 9 games his first playoffs, then 10pts in 21 games in this last playoffs.

Frankly I think Lundell should be their target on Florida, not Duclair.
It falls in line with the same mentality as the Sharagovich trade.
Trading vet for a younger player on the verge of potentially breaking out.
Conroy should continue down that vein. If that's the closest we'll get to rebuilding moves at least I can live with it.
Duclair as the centerpiece is the wrong way to go.

Because they would like to land a number 2 defenceman who is a bargain for the next year and best friends with Tkachuk?

You say that you are stating a fact when all I did is wonder how Duclair could be worth more than 3rd round pick? That's silly of me?
A fact?
