2 fold on this one.
1) This is why the flames need to stay away from these trades
2) We're sitting on a goldmine even with term on some of our guys...

I actually always like Tampa's moves. When you have a core of Stamkos, Kucherov, Point, Hedman, Sergachev and Vasilevsky, might as well go all in every year. At the end of it all, 3 or 4 cups is worth a lot more than some late 1sts for the legacy of a franchise.
Goodrow and Coleman got them 2 cups on less than 2M salaries, everyone said they overpaid for Hagel last year but honestly I'd rather have him than Katchouk, Raddysh and picks.

According to Seravelli, Nashville was asking for 2 First round picks.
While this is a clear win by Poile, I believe Jeanott will morph into a much more effective player than he's being credited for.

Lucic carries a cap hit of six million. The reason Jeannot fetched such a high return is that he's only making 800k.

Don't forget Nick Paul.
It must be awesome to be a fan of a team that already has an established top 6 and only ever need to acquire bottom 6 depth pieces to solidify their push for a cup.
Calgary was always looking for a top line C during the Iggy years, then transitioned to needing another Iggy after he was traded during the past decade. And now we're back to looking for more top end talent.

This is the worst trade by Tampa I’ve ever seen. All that for a third liner.

Jeanott was a hell of a player last season. He will thrive in Tampa.

Tampa is built the right way- they have their skill guys, and plenty of scoring, but they are also huge, fast, tough, and mean. Jeannot will do well, just as Hagel from last year has.

I think it seems like they gave up more than they actually did. It is a good haul, but picks after the first round have a really low probability of making it.

That is absolutely absurd. I’m sorry. 5 draft picks and Cal Foote for a dude with 14 points? People jokingly talk about fireable offences but this actually is one.

I ####ing love Jeannot but that’s a big deal for the Preds.
Of course, it’s Tampa. They always seem to do these deals and then win the cup. Perfect 3rd liner for him.
I would have loved him on the flames but obviously we can’t be paying this amount.

Call up Pospisil, staple him to Backlund and sell him!
Seriously, would really love to have seen a healthy Pospisil in the NHL, he was gonna be pretty good I think.

Jeannot is a hell of a player. I would have loved him in Calgary, but that was expensive and Calgary shouldn't be buyers anyway. He is fast, good hands, hits like a truck, and tough as nails too. He can play up and down the lineup. One of the players that I have been keeping my eye on for a while now. Sucks that Tampa got him, but at least he went out east.

If Calgary wanted to trade Lucic and had a buyer, Calgary would gladly retain 50%, and getting another team to retain 50% after that would be trivial.
Remember Lucic has a salary of only $1 million this season.

Yeah I think both sides could get what they want out of this deal. Tampa tends to identify what they want and go after it. I'll never refer to Julien Brisebois as a coward. He's got that team to three straight cups and not scared to go for 4.
Great return for Nashville though. Pretty much the offer you can't refuse.

Literally, Jeannot could be just a slightly better Lance Bouma. Nuts price. But Tampa knows how to scout so I imagine he becomes what they need him to be.
Interestingly, Bouma is still playing in Sweden!
