My only real concern is that usually the centre and D trio decide if a line is getting caved in, and Zadorov-Lewis-Stone might not be up to the task.
Wouldn't they know this though?
Man I hope so.

The good news is Lucic and Stone have only had 53 minutes together all season, so it appears they don't line up the fourth line and the third pairing all that often.
So did most people because it made the most sense and is consistent with how Sutter develops young players.
Yeah I know, wasn't itching for a pat on the back, just not surprised.
Unfortunately I don't see him succeeding with limited minutes. But like I said hopefully he can show some spunk and get a chance with more talented linemates.
Well, called Phillips playing on the 4th line. Maybe he'll show a bunch of energy at least and earn a promotion for tomorrow.
I think people are setting themselves up for more disappointment by hoping he will slide up the lineup after one game. If he plays well tonight, he will get chance to do the same thing again tomorrow, and then the next night, and the next, and so on. I would bet if he sticks that it will take several games at least before seeing him playing in the top-nine. It is especially not happening now when those lines are playing well.

If Matthew Phillips is going to succeed at all, then he is going to need to show that he can do it with limited minutes before getting more ice time on a regular basis.

If he doesn’t succeed with limited minutes he doesn’t belong in the NHL. Again, success with Sutter isn’t going to be measured by production, it’ll be measured by commitment to playing the right way. You don’t need 15 minutes a night to show that.
Ruzicka did it. Look at him now.
Based on Sutter’s comments, he knows what Phillips can do skill wise. The question is: can he overcome his size and play the right way in the NHL. He can prove that on the 4th line. Might be the best line to prove it on, honestly.
Listened to the Fan this morning. Something they noted. Mangiapane was put with Derek Ryan and Garnet Hathaway when he first started on a "new look 4th line". Just because a player comes up with skill, doesn't mean he's going to be stuck in a role that doesn't suit him. If anything, i see Philips bringing some creativity and puck possession to the line.
Johnny Gaudreau hosted seven or eight former #Flames teammates, plus some equipment-staffers, for dinner last night at his house in Columbus. “They came over, hung out, got to meet my daughter. It was special ... It was great to spend time with them.”
I hope they roasted him at the dinner table at least

I think they know it, but it can affect evaluation regardless. If what Phillips is bringing, for instance, is an ability to break the puck out and create transition through the right side and the middle, but Lucic is coughing pucks up on the left side or offensive zone, then suddenly "Phillips is invisible". It's human bias.

It really depends on the player too. In some cases I think skill players need points and production to feel good about themselves.
Where I think the message to Phillips is "Look kid I don't care if you score, assist or even get a shot, just do what you're told, be in position and work hard, the rest will take care of itself"
I think a message like that takes the pressure of a young player that has been lighting up the AHL.

I think you're massively overstating the bias.
We've seen individual players benched for third periods because of turnovers ... they know who is making the mistakes.
