TBS trying to emulate football with their coverage I get, but rolling our (literally) Koharski seems like a stretch. Listening to him a few times such as last night in Caps game and he isn’t very well spoken, nor does he communicate well, and sounds like he’s down at the local tavern between smoke breaks.
He hasn’t been part of the officiating ranks for over a decade, and dont think he did work with the league after…he’s here only because they caught his argument with Schonfeld accidentally on TV 35 years ago.

Is there actually an angle that's shows Gaudreau was hit in the head vs whiplash from a shoulder hit? I've asked a few times but haven't had anything shared.

People are still acting surprised at the NHLs incompetence?

Nurse with a head missile nowhere near the puck and after the play has stopped gets a game; if that’s the standard, then no way should this be a suspension. Unintentional head contact with the puck present - headshots have to be penalized incidental or not, but there needs to be a standard regarding intent.
Zadorov, who is a giant, was looking to throw a heavy hit and accidentally caught the head at the last split second. Nurse exploded upwards into a guy’s chin with his helmet on purpose. These are in no way comparable .

A playoff game is supposed to equal 4 regular seasons games...no way that is a 4 game suspension

I always thought is was more like a 2 to 1 than a 4 to 1. But agreed should not be suspendable. 2 min penalty sure, but not a suspension.

Does Big Z get to bring a lawyer from back home? Hmmm maybe not the best idea.

Game 7 of a playoff series is worth at least 4 regular season IMO.

If he does get suspended then the league is even more of a joke. Is he only supposed to hit guys the same size as him? Benn gets away with a slap on the wrist for two slewfoots and spearing a guy in the face through the net.

If he gets a game, could/should the Flames appeal so that he would play game 7?

But would that appeal go through quick enough for him to suit up tomorrow?

I believe the process was changed in that you are no longer able to suit up during an appeal.

Well no reason not to hear the appeal prior to Game 7.

Flames better be busy right now getting evidence together and preparing their case.

I think if Nurse only got one game because it was an elimination game, I don't see how you can suspend Zadarov at all given that his play was much less severe.
But it's the Flames, so he'll be suspended for this series and next (if they make it).

Just watched again and froze it at moment of contact:
Zadorov went into the check in a consistent manner
Both feet squarely on the ground
Elbow in, and a straight line down from the shoulder through the hip
Went straight through Glendening (didn't stick anything out)
As far as intent goes, it was a clean check.
The problem is that the initial point of contact was the head. I wouldn't say the primary point of contact though, as Zadorov makes contact throughout the torso, and drives into Glendening's chest.
Finally, Glendening was bent down a fair bit. Not only is Zadorov 6 inches taller, but, because he was bent over, Glendening's entire head was at the level of Zadorov's shoulder. Impossible NOT to make head contact. If Glendening is upright, his head might not have been hit. It is is 6'4", his head would not have been hit.
I don't see how you suspend a guy for that.
But he will be suspended for 1 game.
