About 10 years back I was on a commercial flight inside Russia. I needed to pee so went back to the lav to find a few really tough looking guys standing around, one of them was smoking. I just went back to my seat.

Based on the stories of the caliber of planes used inside Russian Air space, the fact that you didn't piss yourself after the takeoff is impressive.
