Career high of 35 points in a season is fantastic? Passable, pedestrian, serviceable maybe, but fantastic is just inaccurate.
He had a poor defensive game from what I remember as well.

A high-water mark of 35 points makes Baertschi a borderline top 6 winger on a bad team, which is what he was I suppose.
If that qualifies as "fantastic," I wonder what that makes Anderssen? "Godlike?" "Superhuman?" "Messianic?"
Anderssen is a good young top 4 D with room to grow. Not a #1. Tops out at #2. More likely a career 3/4.
That's a long shot better than a featherweight 3rd line winger who can't stay in the league.

Now if Mr. Donkey is looking for an Oileresque overrating of a player he needs to look at this post for a prime example

Baertschi is what passes for 'fantastic' in Vancouver. That way, the team can always be 'fantastic'

35 points but prorated to like 65. Like I said, he got derailed by injuries and never came back the same. But for two seasons there he was showing he had figured out both ends of the ice and the play towards the net and not the outside. You guys don't have to like it, but he did.

Ummm - it was 35 in 68 games. That's pro-rated to 42 points in 82 games. It was also two seasons before his concussion issues.

And then the next season he was on a 45 point pace. That's pretty much who he was. Maybe he hits 50 at some point if he never has those injury issues, but he did, so he never reached that ceiling, which is not exactly an uncommon story in the NHL.

Plus, he was in the AHL most of the last 2 years, so not all of the decline is injury related.

Hence injury. He was not the same player before the concussions. They just ended his NHL career.

Sven was well worth the 2nd Van traded, and he was absolutely not worth 13th over all.
Who was the 2nd for Calgary after all Andersson?

Yeah Andersson so it was a slam dunk win for the Flames

And gave him an AHL career? If he was too concussed to play NHL, how did he play all those AHL games?

Level of play? No. Ability to play at all? Yes. In other words, if the concussion keeps you out, you are out for NHL, AHL or anywhere. If you are able to play I don't think it hinders your game, aside from getting back to game speed.

Did the flames win the trade? Absolutely
Sven is getting too much hate though. Before concussions he was tracking as a low end 2nd liner

If your level of play is still to be developed, then yes it definitely can.
