I have a hard time believing everyone can’t wait to get this vaccine like the posters in this thread lead you to believe. I’d love to know what percentage of the population are actually willing to get the covid vaccine? For the regular annual flu doesn’t like 50% of the population get it? Of that 50% maybe a portion of those might get a covid vaccine.

You'd probably see a lot more people getting the flu vaccine if there was strong evidence that getting the flu could kill you and the people you come in contact with.

That's just a guess, though.

What posters, by method of what posts, have lead anyone to believe ‘everyone’ can’t wait to get this vaccine?

In a vacuum I'd prefer to wait for a longer timeline for a vaccine before taking it. I'm sure a bunch of our resident experts will jump all over for me for saying it for the nerve of possibly doubting science in any way. But whatever.

At this point though, they can inject it in my eye for all I care.

I'll be getting it as soon as I can, but I also have a little reservation about it, just in that is the first vaccine we can get the best one? Does it prevent you getting other, perhaps better ones later? Are there any gotchas we may not know about for a bit? Are existing health issues going to cause it to not be very effective anyway? Many unknowns, but I've got other risks to worry about, so if it is deemed safe enoguh to give to Canadians, I'll be first in the line I can get in.

And ya, I get the flu shot every year, and all the other usual ones when I need them

You have to read all the posts. You can’t just start on page 4.

Wonder if countries will start requiring Covid vaccination records for entry?

Why wouldn't they?

Do we all get wristbands like in Contagion?

If even 30% of people get the vaccine, that’s an enormous statistical advantage for Team People.

With that said, many thousands of people should feel free to try it before I do.

I’ll settle for a world where the fake-cure-hocking Alex Jones caricature played by Jude Law isn’t also head of the US government.

I'll probably be patient to get it, unless my situation changes. Working from home and social distancing is working fine for me, but I have that luxury. As far as I am concerned, people in households with higher risk people, front line workers, and people with jobs that require dealing with the public, should all feel obliged to get it before I do. Especially if there are going to be production shortages.

When the 'Black Friday' of vaccinations are done, I will get in line then.

Having said that, that was also my strategy with the H1N1 vaccine back 2009 or 2010. But then I happened to be walking by a clinic and there was no line-up or queue, so I jumped at the opportunity.

I hope they have a better strategy than "mass vaccination clinics at malls" this time. Drive through vaccinations, maybe? I'll have a quarter pounder meal with a Coke, and a Astrazeneca in my right arm, please.

I would absolutely get the vaccine. My job involves interacting with quite a few people who think COVID is no big deal. I feel that when I am interacting with them, I am putting my personal cohorts at risk. Although the vaccine would not be 100% effective, even saving 1 at risk life is worth putting a needle in my arm.

Edit: Hopefully it's like a dissolvable pill or eye drop or something. Worst case scenario IMO, it's a suppository.

You might need more than the Pfizer vaccine to save you.

Obviously very good news and count me in for sure asap.

This might be discussed elsewhere, but how will things work in terms of the numbers and types of vaccines? Obviously a 90% effective rate puts Pfizer in the lead. Will we all (i.e Canada wide) be able to get the Pfizer vaccine? Will there be a run on their product?

Canada ordered 20 Million doses. So if all the order is fulfilled there will be 10 Million people able to get vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine. The question is how many are delivered in Q1 of 2021 to Canada.

You can expect a few others, Astra Zeneca, Moderna and J&J to come out with approvals in the next 3-6 months as well.
