He will have some cash coming in from asset sales. He co-owns skyscrapers in NYC/SF with Vornado (a big US REIT). Vornado controls the joint venture, and has been trying to cash out, as they are doing some big developments in New York at Penn Station.
The rumors are that nobody wants to buy the assets while Trump is President because of the terrible optics. Once he is out of office and nobody cares about him (and I very much think he'll fade away) that will be less of an issue.
I think the most likely scenario is he spends his time golfing, a bitter and defeated old man stripped of the limelight and power. Rich, but deeply unhappy.
he wont be rich, he isnt rich now, his brand is all he has and that is now tarnished, he is no longer going to be associated with 1980's tacky excessive wealth, now all people will think is that raving right wing twitter dude and that isnt going to sell Hotel or Golf club memberships.
I am now getting 25 plus begging emails from his campaign a day, up from 15 or so prior to the election, he/they are broke and desperate for money
He gets a Donald Trump Presidential Library, doesn't he? I can't think of anything more incongruous for a guy who's never read a book.
Even Gerald Ford, who was never elected as either VP or President and was only in office for a little over 2 years, got a Presidential Library, so I guess that means Trump will too.
Apparently, the Obama one is supposed to be less of a celebration of all things Obama and more of a community space, with a branch of the Chicago Public Library on location.
I wouldn't expect Trump to follow Obama's lead in that regard. I'm sure his will make all those that came before look quaint and modest in comparison.

The entire library is just multiple copies of the Art of the Deal covered in scribbling from a giant Sharpie, plus one never-opened bible stolen from the nightstand of a Trump hotel the day before the library's opening.
I wouldn't be surprised if his museum/library does end up being built on or near one of his golf clubs, or maybe Mar-a-Lago. Presidential libraries/museums are built using private donations and operated by the federal government, so putting it on existing Trump property sounds like a good way to grift even more money from his cult.

Forgive my ignorance, but what would he be charged/jailed for?
Fraud, falsifying business records, obstruction of justice, lying to investigators, witness tampering, tax fraud, rape, and racketeering, just to start.

I wonder if he going to do the traditional "$500k an appearance" speaking tour that's just a thinly veiled excuse for him to collect his corruption money from all the big money groups he pandered to.
Biden pardons him and when Trump asks why, he replies:
"So that every shriek of every child at seeing your hideousness will be yours to cherish. Every babe that weeps at your approach, every woman who cries out, "Dear God! What is that thing," will echo in your orange ears. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever."

can he pardon himself or does he need to step down and let Pence do it? And that only protects from federal cases, yes?
I don't think he can pardon himself. I just don't see that standing up in court. He would have to step down and Pence pardon him, but I doubt Pence would give him immunity against future charges. That is a pretty massive get out of jail card and be tied directly to your actions. That would end Mike Pence and destroy his legacy should something go sideways with Trump, and what doesn't go sideways with Trump? And yes, presidential pardons only affect federal crimes. The majority of charges he could face are state charges and ones he is unlikely to be able to get out from under.
Fraud, related to Trump University and Trump charities to start.
Falsifying business records, in relation to over-inflating the value of his properties to secure loans and under-reporting income to limit tax exposure.
Lying to investigators, in relation to every investigation ever held against him. When Trump's lips move lies are sure to follow.
Witness tampering, people are going to suggest this has only happened while he was in the White House, but Michael Cohen documented that he intimidated witnesses on behalf of Donald Trump and under his direct orders as part of his duties as his legal counsel.
Tax fraud, which has been well documented with the recent disclosures.
Rape, and there is DNA evidence. Trump has refused to give a DNA sample and has been slow playing this. As a private citizen he can be compelled to give up that evidence during a criminal investigation.
Racketeering, related to the operation of his whole enterprise. The Trump organization is a family run interest, and when I say family I mean la cosa nostra. The Trump family is a criminal enterprise. Is there anyone with a more fitting name than "The Don(ald)?"
Federal charges he could face include obstruction of justice, lying to investigators, and witness tampering, all related to the Mueller probe and the findings from that period.
It is sad to think that what you and I would go through in relation to any one of these charges with the evidence left behind. The system would not be kind to us. The proverbial book would dropped on us with the maximum weight possible. But because of his "apparent" wealth and power, he could skate on this stuff. I really hope the NYAG drops a massive turd on Trump's head and brings him to justice. But that's just me, someone who thinks everyone should be treated the same regardless of you access to money and people in positions of authority.

I'm thinking Trump and his family will be pardoned by the 46th President, Mike Pence, in the middle of the night some time before Christmas. They'll all get in the helicopter and get dropped at a nearby airfield where a private jet will take off for a destination other than the declared one. Trump will later be captured by bounty hunters in Mar-a-Lago because he figured nobody knew where his plane went so he went home.
I'd totally watch an episode of Dawg taking in Trump. Though the universe might collapse with that much bad hair in one place.
Add abuse of power for imposing on Barr to recind Stones prison sentence. The guy was guilty of jury tampering. You know does jury tampering? The mafia. No one should skate from charges like that. And Trump enabled that. Joe average citizen thinks this kind of injustice and special rules for the rich and well connected is revolting.
The issue with charging him and imprisoning him is that it has to be apolitical. A government in power can’t be seen as using its authority to punish political opponents.
So even if he is guilty it has to be clear. Things around the campaign and things done while in office would be very difficult to avoid it appearing like revenge.
Tax Evasion is where I think the least political opportunities lie. Get him the same way way as Capone.
As for self pardoning the only restriction given in the constitution is that you cannot Pardon in cases of Impeachment. Given that the constitution has specific criteria of when Pardons are not permitted I suspect the originalists on the court will argue that if they wanted to state the president couldn’t Pardon himself they would have. Obviously this has not been tested at the Supreme Court.
During Watergate the AG wrote a positionnsayingbthey didn’t believe the president could Pardon himself.
It’s well accepted that a president can’t pardon state crimes so that would also be a route to get around his inevitable self pardon.

According to Wikipedia Ford has two!
They usually get built in the President’s home state. I doubt anyone in New York will want anything to do with that. Maybe Rochester.

He's not as rich as he says he is, but his stake in the two buildings I mentioned is worth a few hundred million (after deducting the mortgages on them)
Never before have you seen a president who used his position of power to enrich himself and his family, engage in the sale of state secrets to foreign adversaries (both trump to the Russians and Kushner to the Saudis).
He should be held to account. He should be prosecuted. He should be imprisoned. He is a criminal of the highest order. Go after his finances and it will all unravel.
