Wilson could be such a respected fwd with his skills, but instead he is truly a tool- dirty hits a plenty and diving. 6 foot whatever, 200+ pounds and he still needs to dive. Zero respect for the tool. I look forward to the next time Reaves puts him in his place.

Your instincts are always best when you're relaxed, and he looks the furthest you can possibly be from that like 98% of the time. Looks like an angry gnome that hates puppies and sunlight and lives off candy. The goals are not going to go in when you're in that headspace. Hope he figures that out. The cure for what ails johnny is having fun again.

To me, it’s not even the goals.
It is him getting the puck, doing the quick stop to fool the checker and create room for the pass, then stuffing it right in to the guy’s skates.
Plays are dying on his stick
That’s not the Johnny I remember. That looks like the stuff a friend of mine does in beer league.

I watch on gamecentre and it's gotten to the point where when Gaudreau is on 5 on 5, I just fast forward to the end of his shift.
Not sure what is going on but he better figure it out quick. Get him his goddam purple gatorade if that's what it takes.

Can’t really complain about losing the 2nd of back to backs on the road against a good Caps team.
The difficult part of the schedule is over. The next stretch of games is significantly easier with time to practice and will be a good indication if this team is as good as last year or if we should start panicking.

Gaudreau is a thread the needle type player and in the NHL the windows are not the same as beer leagues. However he will get it back - he just has to trust his ability or just gain that confidence.
That’s why he may be looking upset. He’s used to making those plays butvtight now it’s just a tiny bit off - not unlike any other player that has fluctuations.
We think these guys should perform like video games- his rating is 99 so make it happen!! I can be guilty of that too.
I know he will be sharp and make his plays. Even still he’s making things happen and getting points.
When he’s feeling it, it’s amazing to watch. He’s a great player. People need to remember that.

I agree and disagree with you at the same time
Please go back and watch the game. Gaudreau creates time and space (almost based on reflex) then bloody well sewers it (seems like he re-opened the book he was reading and forgot which paragraph he was on)
It’s not an issue of millimeters, it is Gaudreau simply f’ing up.
Just re watch the game. It happened multiple times.

Gio looked tired to me. He’s 36 and 3 games in 4 nights is tough on any player let alone one who still plays big minutes at his age. Time to increase ice time to Kylington and Andersson?

You guys see Nashville and Columbus?
It's been a tough start to the season, but pulling off a win in the 2nd of B2B on the road... against the Caps... with the Nats in the house would have been a feat
Of all the games to draw conclusions from, this wasn't it

Or perhaps hold the referees accountable. They can dictate the outcome of any game they want to.

I still think that Johnny should sit for a game or two. Let him watch the team succeed without him.
A trade to Jersy for Hall would be ok, IMO.

Well the reason the team hasn't been overly successful this season is because he's not been scoring so I'm not exactly sure why you would think there would be any success on ice with him in the press box.

I didn't think the Flames played too bad. Caps are one the best teams who had a packed arena full of rabid fans buzzing from a World Series win. Flames were a tired team playing 24 hours after a prior game. I was hoping for a point or 2, but realistic that it was going to be a very tough game to win. The team was 2-2-1 on a tough road trip. 5/10 points is better then 3/10, considering the Preds game looked like a loss at one point.
Time to rack up points on the homestand and get the top line going. I'm not too concerned with them yet. They will find their groove like always. But it would be nice to see some of the depth players step up.

I wish people would just stop with this. No coach in his right mind is going to sit his 1C or his top winger. These things do not happen, and for good reason.
Also, Johnny is better than Hall. So that trade is a no from me dawg.
Once Valimaki is healthy, I think you look at Brodie+ for Hall.

Except for Hartley when Johnny, Mony and Bouma showed up hungover to practice after their superbowl party.

A little different - that's a breach of team rules and the resulting consequence, not just "you aren't playing well".
I think they just need some time to work on things. They have had pretty much zero effective practice time on this trip.

Well the league does defend officials from players embarrassing them with embellishment by not acknowledging it's a problem.
I used to get way more upset about it when the Canucks were leading the league with their diving antics and the Iginla led Flames were playing pretty honest. But in the last 6 years or so Giordano has embellished pretty regularly and now Gaudreau has come in and embellished, whined and dived as much as any star who does it.
It's a league wide problem that lays with the league for not caring that a good portion of their calls are actually embellishment , because that means they'd have to actually deal with something.

That's the rub right there. Showing up late is a breach of contract.
Plus, I think one of them barfed on the ice or something like that and Hartley cut the practice short.

Ridiculously terrible take. Trade him for a bandaid player with an expiring contract that will demand $10M per year and has also called out his own fans this year is a poor suggestion. Saying he needs to be a healthy scratch is even more ridiculous
