I don't see what the issue is. He went dark during QO period. His rights were free to be traded whether he knew about it or not. He was free to be qualified or not qualified whether he knew about it or not.

If you were concerned about not being qualified then you shouldn't have gone dark over the RFA qualifying offer deadline.

It's one thing to be traded unexpectedly and be off the grid, but I assumed that during these off-seasons players would be very much "on duty". Even if your agent is handling everything, I assumed that final "ok" came from the player with pen-to-paper.
Final “ok” to what? There has been nothing Hartman needed to okay. The trade was out of his control. Not getting qualified was not his choice.

No clue

I just thought that even as an RFA there as still some involvement in your next contract in some way shape or form

This is why agents exist.

Hartman can have as big or as little of say in his next contract that he wants. Most players let their agents handle the majority. Choosing to not talk to the team that hold your rights for a week or a month is perfectly valid.

Hartman was in a no lose scenario. If he gets qualified then he can elect salary arbitration and get paid. If he doesn’t get qualified then he’s an unrestricted free agent and will get paid. He had no incentive to negotiate with DAL, it’s probably best for him to hit the open market. I’d imagine his agent laid that all out.

Ryan Hartman @RHartzy18
For everyone wondering, I’ve had constant communication via satellite phone with my agent throughout this whole process
