I'll never understand why you would have a bunch of uninformed rubes vote on judicial appointments. It's insane.

That's not even the issue. They could all have 120 IQs and be totally informed, and it'd still be a ####ing awful idea to have your judiciary be so politicized. It's asking for results-driven decisions. The decisions of judges aren't supposed to be about what's palatable to the general public.

Yes, this.

I consider myself to be a highly intelligent person, and yet I don't have the skills to adequately assess the body of work of a judge. One, because it's largely unavailable to me, and two because I have no background in the interpretation of laws.

It's just an excuse to let people feel as if they have power over the judicial system. It's a terrible idea as far as I'm concerned.

THis is going to be fascinating. One part of me thinks, Americans are going to be come out hard against trump because he's an insane, lying racist. But then another part of me thinks a lot of people are going to vote for trump, because he really is delivering on his promises:

Renegotiate Nafta - done
Push free trade towards fair trade - done
Rejuvenate the economy - done
Cut red tape - done
Cut taxes - done
Iran sanctions - done
Destroyed Elizabeth Warren's credibility - done
Made supreme court conservative - done

I mean really - the only reason not to vote for trump is if you're sick of losing.

Woo we got a hot take here boys. Anyone want to take the bait? I’m good, outside of the final point regarding a stolen Supreme Court seat everything there is just so one of the more conversationally minded members can feel free to enlighten Mr Foss should they see fit.

Trump kept two promises at once by building a wall using the huddles cages of migrant children.

I don't know GullFoss well enough to know if that is indeed trolling as you guys are claiming, but legit, I know plenty of people around here that would use that checklist genuinely as reason to support the GOP. Many of those bullet points are true at face value and it requires nuance to understand the reality of the situation.

"Cut red tape" is one of my favorites, because when you ask for one specific example, the answer is usually "regulations".

The more things change: Trump and Sessions allege voter fraud (without evidence, of course).

Voter suppression is a form of voter fraud. So Trump is 100% right. There's a on of voter fraud going on, and most of it by his chosen candidates.

Mine was "Rejuvenate the economy". It is as if poeple don't understand that Trump inherited the economy at one of the strongest points it has ever been.
