I don't think that's necessarily true. "Uttered" in criminal law doesn't require face to face speech - it can be in writing.

Let's settle down just a little here. I know that if the verdict does turn out guilty, Hoffman and his gf have every right to be blasted considering the circumstances of this situation but we hardly know anything about this story so far.

Yeah, I'm not in a place to make a judgement either way, but if a bond hasn't been granted nor has the girlfriend been served, this sure smacks of being dragged in the court of public opinion. I wonder why this came out today?

Reading the headline I thought 'I hope Hoffman never wears our shade of red'. There's no level of talent or roster-fit that would leave me wanting that kind of player in the locker room.

Then I read the article, and noticed the verbiage Monika used to describe the statements was made was 'uttered':

“Monika Caryk has uttered numerous statements wishing my unborn child dead,” says Melinda Karlsson’s sworn statement to the court.

“She also uttered that she wished I was dead and that someone should ‘take out’ my husband’s legs to ‘end his career.’

There's no question that Monika Caryk is a garbage person, and I hope she never finds her way to Calgary (I'm personally not even on the fence regarding her guilt). But I have a little optimism that Mike was oblivious to this, or at the very least thought his trash GF was just being petty (and really, should have gotten rid of her). It sounds like this could have been crappy little jabs, and mean things posted online without Mike assenting.

Mike could also be truly believing his fiancée was not involved. With words 'uttered' and fake accounts commenting, it doesn't seem like Monkia was very honest with her opinion, and wanted to attack them in privacy - which also would include keeping it from Mike.

But honestly TJ Mike... she's did it...


Either way, I'd want Mike unburdened from this garbage person - but I have hope that he wasn't embroiled in all of this as much as I first thought.

Poor Michael Hoffman. His statement reads like someone who wants to be there and support his future life-partner. And yet deep down, he knows what's being said is likely true and he has no idea how to handle it and just wishes it would go away.

I dated a girl once whose sister was like this. Always going mental on social media. Making up troll accounts to write crazy things about us that we knew she wrote, only to have her deny it every time. Her fiance knew she was bat-#### crazy and wrote all those things, yet stuck with her because he was committed to being together.

If all these allegations are true, it's a very tough spot for Mike Hoffman to be in. Obviously it's going to rip that dressing room apart, there might be legal ramifications (he would probably foot the bill for), and he's stuck with a crazy bitch. Also hockey wives/girlfriends are a close-knit bunch. Good luck with that now.
