The fact that this team is depending overly on a 21 and 23 year old forward for secondary offense just goes to show how thin this team is at forward. What other playoff contending team requires this much from players this young?

Bennett is such a dissapoitment, could very well be this franchise’s biggest bust. He does absolutely nothing well

He played really well and made two massive saves in the 3rd.

Man I've been rooting for Bennett but damn... I'm at the point where he needs a change of scenery.

Reaally sucks that out of the 3 top Fs in that draft, the Oilers got the best one.

This is a 1 line team. They have a top line, a 3rd line, and 2 below average 4th lines.

Please do not trade for any winger this deadline. They are not one guy away from being a good hockey team.

Listen, normally I agree with the calmer attitude, but this is just inexcusable from Bennett at this point in his career.

If you attempt to check a player directly from behind, you're going to put a stick or a hand where it shouldn't be, and the refs are going to call a penalty. Even rookies understand that at some point.

For a guy that stakes his game on effort and tenacity, that play is all sorts of lazy. Take a few extra strides, get alongside the player, and find a way to strip the puck or check him off it. You will NEVER have a good outcome going at a player directly from behind. You will OFTEN get called for a penalty.

Yet Sam hasn't figured this out after getting called for the same thing time and again. It's just maddening that he hasn't learned this yet. It makes me question whether or not he has NHL level hockey IQ, as other aspects of his game seem to suffer from the same lack of awareness or intelligence.

That 21 year old is the highest pick in franchise history in his 4th year, look around the league and see how other 21 year olds are producing. Bennett has gotten worse every year

Do you never have to work hard at your job? I am a Flames fan, since 1985. Still, I do not accept subpar performance with the excuse of playing back to back

5-3-2 in the back half of back-to-backs this year

I've been done with Bennett for a while. This is his 3rd year, he's not new to this.

I don't think he'll ever get it.

Another third period lead, another loss IN REGULATION.

That’s six points that have frittered away in the last 1.5 weeks. Yeesh.

Terrible start, poor finish. I’m thinking the boys might have been looking forward to a Friday night in Manhattan...

I'm disappointed but I can't remember a team ever giving up on a top 5 draft pick before he even turns 22. We all expected better but it's laughable how over the top fans are in regards to his struggles.

@Cali - I wasn't defending Bennett, but rather pointing out that the last couple pages of the GT were riddled with Bennett comments. Then again in the PGT. Many by the same few posters. It's tiresome. Surely one comment would be enough unless there's more to add to the discussion?

There are no "easy win games" any more. I don't think back to back was an issue. They lost to another professional hockey team.

Its not even that...its where on the ice and when he takes them.

He completely threw his team under the proverbial bus with that penalty tonight. Offensive zone because he was being lazy. It just sucks the life out of the other guys when you see that crap repeatedly.

We play the Islanders next. Tonight they scored four powerplay goals on one five minute power play. We haven’t score four power play goals in the last goddamn month!
