I think they go with Huska before Cameron if they replace GG from within

Besides Evander Kane, which top line wingers do you think are actually available?

This is really mind blowing, given our 4th line is one of the worst if not the worst in the league. Also, his insistence in rolling four lines drives me bonkers. There are times to roll 4 lines and there are times to avoid it. When you're leading more than 3 goals, yeah, roll them all you want. But if you are trailing in the game, you shorten your bench, meaning 4th line will sit and sit then may be take a shift.

There were so many times that the team just scored and have all the momentum, he throw the 4th line out and get hemmed in their own zone and lose all the momentum.

No. Not in game shape. Too old. Too much baggage.

It's from April but still shows he's not against coaching again. One thing with coming back to the Flames is he would be close to home.

I wouldn't mind Sutter but he seems to be a coach that burns out quick. I could see a bit of hesitation from management to go with him. Especially after the players turned on Hartley who has simimiarities. Tippett seems more familiar and might be better long term.

If he can come in and win 2 cups in 5 years, I don't care if the players want him gone at the end of the 5th year.

As mentioned above, hopefully it will be Huska as Gulutzan’s replacement if it’s an internal promotion but even if it was Cameron and he is smart enough to abandon lefty/righty D pairings, reduce or completely cut Stajan/Brouwer’s minutes and properly line match that’s still a massive improvement.

So the play here should be for starters to take Gulutzan toys away. I.e Stajan and Brouwer.

I also think that Buffalo trade is coming up real quick. Say right after the Hawks game?

I don't think Gulutzan gets fired....yet. Treliving like I said is going to subtract some pieces and add some new ones and see if that works first.

A guy like Treliving is all about steps in a process. This'll be step one. Hopefully the next one doesn't take as long if things don't iron out. He has a tight timetable to turn this around now.

I don't doubt that Hamilton would fetch a bigger return than Brodie, but based on age and play this year I don't see any realistic scenario in which Hamilton is traded and Brodie is not.

The fact that his poor play started precisely when Gulutzan took over makes it worth giving Brodie a shot to turn things around under our next coach, assuming that coaching change comes soon (as it should). Trading Brodie and watching him go back to the player he was with another team while the Flames continue to struggle for a few more months under GG would be a disaster.

I hope it's not a trade for the sake of trading to shake things up. My most traumatic Flames memories involve those types of trades.

Brouwer, Stajan and Bartkowski to the AHL
Call up Mangiapane, Klimchuk and Prout (press box most nights, still bad but not Bartkowski)
Fire Gulutzan and assistants
Hire Darryl Sutter and let him choose his own assistants

Gaudreau / Monahan / Ferland
Tkachuk / Backlund / Bennett
Mangiapane / Jankowski / Hathaway
Klimchuk / Lazar / Jagr

Giordano / Hamilton
Brodie / Hamonic
Kulak / Stone

Smith
Rittich

That looks like a solid team to me.

Totally agree with this and it reminds me of back in the days when we had yet another GG as coach and his stubbornness cost us to trade a play making center named Marc Savard for peanuts. What pissed me off even more was that idiot GM fired the goddamn coach just months later.

I hope to god that history doesn't repeat itself.

Ya if it were just that easy. Hire Daryl and win a couple cups. Those Kings teams were stacked.

So same brutal D, same struggling top line. Bennett slides up to replace Frolik, Mangiapane in Bennett's place and Klimchuk the new 4th liner.

Not much of a change from the current struggling mediocre team.
