I bet the brass watching the Heat before the SJ game, they all realized how much better half the Heat players were than the likes of Brouwer and Stajan

Iginla can't even make the Canadian Olympic team, but he's going to be a first line RW? That is some Gulutzan-level thought processing.

Agreed he’s had a handful of nice plays, but net has been detrimental on the ice for sure. Hard to say the benefit he’s bringing off ice of course.

I think he’s done. Which kind of sucks because he’s so close to the all time NHL GP record.

I can see Stajan and possibly Brouwer hitting the waiver wire.

If there is a big trade to be made I could see it being one of the Flames right shot D for a scoring winger?

Hamilton would be an insane blockbuster so highly unlikely during the season
Hamonic was just acquired so I doubt they sell him off for less than they paid. He seems like the type of community guy the organization covets and he loves living in Western Canada. I will say he is the least likely to move.
Stone was acquired recently and the Flames paid an additional 5th to the Coyotes to re-sign him I don’t think he would be traded. Having said that I could see him being moved before Dougie or Hammer.
Andersson could be another guy they would consider moving. I figure he would be the body that replaces the nhl right shot D moved but if the Flames can acquire a longer term scoring winger I could see them being willing to move one of their top prospects.

Ultimately I hope it is a coaching change but not banking on it

If Iginla could play that role, he'd be in the NHL right now. Brouwer is a NHL player right now, Iginla is not. Brouwer is cast in a tough spot, playing with Stajan - who is not a NHL player - and trying to make things work. I'd sa see what he can do with Hrivik and Mangipagne before completely throwing him under the bus. But in comparison to Iginla, Brouwer is the vastly superior player at this point, and that hurts to say.

Thank the heavens!

Just frigin bench Stajan and Brouwer (give his A to someone else), waive whoever, bring up mangiapane/hrivik/klimchuk. That would be a nice start!

Brouwer actually may not be an NHL calibre player anymore either.

We will find out of the Flames make a bunch of callups and they outplay Brouwer. The die could be cast for Brouwer. It will be put up or shutup time.

Doesn’t he have the best +\- on the team ?

He may not be able to play anymore speed wise, but I don’t think he has been a detriment

It's funny, I just posted in another thread that it's strange only cp freaking out, no word from management or the media.

Finally some much needed 'smoke'.

I'm excited to see what happens within the next week.

Would not lose any sleep over trading Brodie, so god damn soft the last 2 years and has been awful as the PP qb. He's in his prime right now so to think he's gonna grow out of this play is wishful thinking. Very good player when he is on but he's been completely off for some time now. Gets walked once a game

Lots of options for Treliving.

- First and foremost new coaching staff: Sutter, Tippett, Ruff, etc.

- Call ups and waiver wire/demotions: Mangiapane/Klimchuk up, Stajan/Brouwer down.

- Minor trades involving 3rd/4th minors and low picks: Lazar for Duclair, things like that.

- Blockbuster trade: Hamilton for an established first line RW, allows for a reunited Brodano and gets Andersson on the 3rd pair full time.

Somethings gotta give to salvage the season.

Careful about what you wish for re: Gulutzan.

Dave Cameron could very well be the replacement. Can't recall any case offhand of an entire coaching staff being replaced mid-season. Often, an assistant assumes the role. And Cameron has HC experience.

This keeps coming up but there's no indication Darryl is still interested in coaching at all, let alone round 2 in Calgary.

If it's not GG being shown the door, we will continue to see Brower and the like being deployed Incorrectly, while having Brodie and Hamonic continue to flounder. A lot of our issues are in game decisions and additions of new players that will likely be used incorrectly while the fourth line sees ice time with 4 minutes left in tied games.

I believe it would take someone like Dougie to land a big, top line RW. This would significantly add to our top line scoring potential, and allow our prospects a chance to come up.

I really don't see a coaching change at this point, unless we continue to sink further in the standing.
