Tha $120 for the Ultra was a smokin deal. The Duo's and stuff are regularly available at $60-100.
Definitely convenience, weather, conversions of units, adding reminders to my calendar, starting a timer with messy hands while cooking, starting music without touching anything, sports scores, tuning in the news and radios, adjusting the temperature of my house, starting the plug in for my truck's block heater without stepping outside, turning on my espresso machine from bed so its preheated, making hands free shopping lists as you go so when you get to the store it has everything you've added over the days, I could really go on. Its quite a fun device

Ahh ok I was unaware these assistance were that integrated with IoT devices at this point. My home's not overly "smart" at this point as I'm not ready to jump onto the IoT bandwagon just yet... but I can definitely see the use case for a single voice interface to rule them all.
So I gotta ask... what's the appeal of Google Home/Amazon Echo for everyone?
Christmas this year seems like the critical mass moment for these devices, I'm quite interested what feature/function of them appealed those of you who purchased such a device this year.

Costco - Hisense 65 inch 4K HDR Compatible ROKU TV $749 ends today. Someone on RFD called and only Calgary NE Costco has any in stock and there were 46 in the system earlier.

No real need for anything crazy for integration. I use Wemo smart plugs (the minis) for the devices I want it to turn on and off, and I'll just use smart switches instead of bulbs for the house lights if I ever decide to do that. As for the thermostat I almost assumed that everyone has a Lyric/Ecobee/Nest at this point with all of the incentives.
I kinda want one. It is the same name as my girlfriend. It's be fun to mess with her for a few days before changing names if possible
I don't think so.
This was just explained in a reddit ELI5 thread a few days ago but I can't seem to find it right now. Basically the software that runs 24/7 needs to run with low memory so it is programmed to only recognize a few specific words/phrases. It was mentioned this is why the name can't be changed IIRC.

Anyone see any good deals on micro SD cards? Looking for a 128gb and can’t seem to find any decent prices.
