That's step one in cleaning up this mess.

?????? Posters do realise that the Bennett line was the worst line in tonights game. So yes Brower and stajan would get a shift with 4 minutes left, because you can't just put out Mono's line for the rest of the game.
I know everybody loves youth but Bennet and Janko were very underwelming for the last 2 games. Actually Bennet has been the worst player on the flames for the first 11 games.

Agree that the refs played a major role tonight but that PP and the PK are just sinking this team and the decision to roll lines regardless tonight was brutal.
|
And guess who's coaching Vegas? Gerard Gallant.
I told everyone that he was going to do a great job with that team. I sound like a broken record, but I STILL can't believe that the Panthers fired him. He's a great coach.

It's ok GG will work up the guts to speak to his team tomorrow. Too many questionable coaching decisions tonight, combined with the very obvious appearance that GG has next to zero leadership ability.
The fact that it took a friggin beer on a train to get the team on the same page with him last year says a lot. The guy just doesn't connect with his team and that is a big problem in a sport like hockey. The guys don't have to like you but they have respect you enough to follow you into the trenches.

No NHL GM sits in the press box watching the game thinking that tonight's ice time allocation is acceptable.

We shall see how this plays out, but nobody looks particularly motivated out there.
|
Has he ever got their respect? I think they like him because he's a nice guy but I don't think they seem to fear him as I feel most of the team knows no matter how bad they play it's going to be the same handful of depth players rotating out of the lineup. Too many players feel safe under Gulutzan.

Wayyy too many games lost at home this year. Also way too many minutes of dead a$$ game play. Seriously. This stuff sucks and the team outside the top 7 suck.

Even the most ardent Gulutzan supporters have to admit that we have a problem. I won't point to his system but his personnel decisions and allocation of ice time are atrocious. It seems like Frolik never gets off the ice and Bennett never gets on it.
The power play is completely useless. I wonder if that's because our 10th and 11th best forwards are on the first unit.
I hate piling on, I really do. It's such a tired, played out tactic but I'm scared to death that we are living our own "Dallas Eakins" era right now.

Is GG sending a message to the team by playing the forth line in key situations, if he is I don't think that's going to work.

2/5 of the 1st pp are players from the bottom 6, the same bottom 6 that has combined for no even strenght points in all the games played so far
i feel sorry for the fans who paid to watch gg put brouwer and stajan on the ice a goal down with 2:30 left
|
Then Bennett and Janko should have done something about their play. That's not on coaching, that's on the players not showing up. Pretty sad when you make Stajan look all world compared to you.

no kidding, be mad at the coach all you want but Janko, Bennett, and Versteeg's play is why those guys got so much more ice time.
They were terrible out there...the AHL is not the NHL

I thought the 4th line played pretty good tonight other than the game winning penalty. The Jankowski line was invisible.

There's very little chemistry on this team outside of Mony and Johnny.
Bobbled passes, double clutching on plays, its almost like these guys don't know each other and what they're going to do.
The sad think is that the Flames are more wasteful of Mike Smith's work then a skinny person and a 10 gallon tub of ice cream.

If the Flames waived Stajan, Brouwer, Glass and Bartkowski tomorrow, would team take any of them? Nope. That should tell you they shouldn't be on this roster. Bury them, give some young players a shot.

Fire Gulutzan. You can't fire 23 players, and this coaching staff is brutal. If this doesn't happen, its time to start looking higher up the food chain and start looking long and hard at the guy who put this #### show together. Treliving needs to start feeling the heat.
