Absolutely. Hopefully when Versteeg is back, it's Shinkaruk down, then Bouma back Chaisson down

Very dissapointing game. I think Elliot was fine early and kept the Flames in it. You can't really blame him much for any of the goals honestly but for whatever reason the team just can't win with him in net. Hopefully they can trade him for some assets sometime before or at the deadline and try to find the next Kiprusoff elsewhere. Keith's kid is a good player and is only going to get better. I love his compete level. I don't love his mouthguard always hanging out. He's going to lose some chicklets for sure. Monahan was garbage tonight, as was Brouwer and most of the other Flames. Flames need to fire the special teams coach and bring someone else in. That is all for now.

Team was horrible.

Will try to look on the bright side and blame this loss on the back to back. Penalties drawn were a result of being tired, chasing the puck and mental lapses.

I don't know about Elliott tho, since he didn't play last night.

We'll be better next game, back to the form of the previous 4.

Burn me if you must. Just trying to find a silver lining here. I'm sick of being depressed after each loss.

So was this not the 5th game in 7 nights? And weren't 2 of the PP goals scored against the Flames on 5 in 3's?

I'm going to suggest fatigue caught up with them tonight which accounts for the undisciplined 2nd period and inability to get back into the game in the 3rd. I feel bad that Elliott didn't have a better effort infront of him tonight.

Disappointing result, but the over reactions around here are even sadder.

I don't understand how Monny has an A and Backlund has been deserving it for a while now. He's been in the discussion for the last 3 years, Backlund has.

That message should consist of healthy-scratching Monahan for Columbus and giving his A to Backlund for the game.

Because we have little to no idea who is a leader in the room and who isn't. And that's coming from a guy who pushed hard for Backlund to get an A post-Iginla.

Flew to Toronto and then drove to Detroit to watch last night's game...left feeling pleased.

Drove straight to Buffalo this afternoon and not sure what to make of this one *sigh*.

This team is legitimate at 5 on 5. Can't do jack on the PP or PK.

I had to watch this one on a delay. I just have one thing to say:

Hey NHL officials...you're lucky I don't own a gun.

The guy was absolute money until this year.

The question that is dividing the board is: Is it a coincidence that Monahan (and Gaudreau, and Brodie, and Gio (for the most part)) started struggling at the same time Gulutzen took over as coach, or is there a causal connection?

OK, just read the rest of this thread. Is nobody else absolutely pissed at the one-sided refereeing tonight? People are talking like the Flames laid an egg, except they didn't, the momentum was turned single-handedly by referees tonight.

I'm also the last guy to blame anything on a ref, but I was a ball of white hot rage tonight watching this one. Two calls on the same sequence, both were weak as hell, and they missed the Ristolainen dive on the 2nd call, which would have made it just a 5 on 4. Instead, it's an extended 4 on 3/5 on 3 and they score on both calls.

After that, the team was in disarray, but still rallied and tried their best to come back.

Elliott was culpable on 2 of the 4 goals (2nd and 4th), and I'd be fine with making him the backup to Johnson for the foreseeable future. His head just isn't in the right place, and he's too slow to react to everything.

Recorded and just finished watching the game.
Tough to win when you have a second line, maybe two third lines, and a fourth line.

Also, Elliott has terrible luck.
He hasn't been great this season, but there's been more than a few goals against that have been incredibly lucky.
