Here's to hoping Gio and Brodie take advantage of this because if they stink tonight it could be back to unorthodox pairings against the Kings.

Flames. Gaudreau Monahan Chaisson - Versteeg Bennett Brouwer- Tkachuk Backlund Frolik- Bouma Stajan Ferland. Probable Lines

Frik Yeah...love that look. They need to "forget" Wideman in San Jose.

Tkachuk has got to be pumped and now playing with less pressure. Gio-Brodie reunited with Kulak back in.
I have a lot more hope for a win than I did this morning.
And why do people have an exception with Chiasson on the top line? Has anyone looked better with them? If anything swap out Monahan for Bennett. Monahan has been garbage so far.

^^^ I've missed far too many games this season, but has Chiasson looked better than Verteeg on the top line? I thought Versteeg looked decent in the first two games, but apparently has looked terrible since.

Gaudreau-Bennett-Chiasson
Versteeg-Monahan-Brouwer
That's what I'd like to see. I think Brouwer would help Monahan, and Chiasson is hard enough on the puck to give Gaudreau and Bennett room.
Gaudreau and Bennett seems awfully dangerous...

Versteeg has been a great add. The problem with Versteeg on the top line is that Johnny is the puck distributor for the top line and Versteeg likes to play a puck distributor role as well. So Johnny wasn't getting enough touches of the puck.
Versteeg works well with the Bennett line or the Stajan line in distributing puck and has shown as much.
If Chiasson could stay on side, I think people would be willing to give him some more slack.

Versteeg has looked good with Bennett but bad with Gaudreau.

Excellent, Brodie and Gio back together... That means 6-2 win for the Flames tonight. Feels good man.

Happy about the defence and the decision to keep Tkachuk, but still would like to see Brouwer with Gaudreau and Monahan.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Brouwer
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Bennett - Versteeg
Bouma - Stajan - Hamilton
Perhaps flip Tkachuk and Ferland

Chiasson hasn't been outstanding on the top line or anything, but he's shown flashes and let's just say he hasn't been the worst player on the line. Monahan really needs to step up soon.
Those D pairings look great, hopefully Gio and Brodie can take advantage of it. Would have liked to see Johnny and Monahan split up though.

no need to change much up front as our offensive pressure was great last game.
If we get the Gio Brodie we are used too together playing big minutes
Hamilton and Jokipaka logging some very healthy minutes and keeping Engelland and Kulak to as limited ice as possible I have high hopes.
All of this will mean nothing if our PP or PK continues to stink.

Tkachuk-Monahan-Brouwer
Chaisson sucks on any line other than the 4th

Stop this Chiasson experiment already...plays die on his stick...and he's offside 9/10.

I've noticed more plays have died on Gaudreau and Monahan's sticks than on Chiasson.
Chiasson isn't the problem.

Powerplay Quarterback
|
Gaudreau-Bennett-Brouwer
Tkatchuk-Backlund-Frolik
Ferland-Monahan-Versteeg
Bouma-Stajan-Chiasson
It's time to split up Johnny and Mony
And that second and third line can be interchanged depending on the game and matchups.

Chiasson isn't great, but I agree he's not the problem on that line.

But in all serious, I think Backlund should be our top line center while he's playing like one.

he IS the problem! Going offside is not cool. Offside is taught in Novice.
