This was a great suggestion. Wish I'd gotten it. I'll never forget the sound of my jaw bone cracking. Didn't help that I was reminded of it every time I spat out a small piece of bone over the next month.

I wonder how long until this is a username? And if it was legit. Could be lucrative and I'm sure there are a few dentists on CP.

I'm assuming you meant to say straight?

I had to get the same cleaning as you are. Actually wasn't that bad. I HATED gong to the dentist as well, mainly because of getting the needle to freeze your mouth. The good news is, after 4 appointments of getting 4-5 injections of freezing, I'm completely over that fear now.

I was told going under was a bad idea because it was way more expensive and a lot of people actually had complications after due to the drugs, so I stayed awake and just had my jaw numbed.

I brought a discman and blared Metallica the whole time (at the dentist's suggestion, said the noises were not pleasant).

All I felt was some pressure and got pretty wide eyed when I saw him handling some giant chisel and pliers looking devices.

I had pretty much no pain, had no problems cleaning. I even went to a movie later that night and ate popcorn and drank out of a straw, both things they advised against. I got a whole bottle of T3s but I don't ever remember using them (for the pain).

Agree with poster above me. Would do again.
Mine went the same way, except I didn't need no stinking music

My dentist sent me to an oral surgeon because one of my wisdom teeth was totally messed up back there. Just got my 4 wisdom teeth out 2 days ago. My main meals consist of buttery noodles and chocolate pudding...yuk!

I had 4 wisdom teeth pulled and two molars pulled out at the same time. The dentist ended up cracking another molar in half and didn't even tell me. My mouth was so frozen I didn't notice until the next day.

Hence the username eh? That's a lot of teeth to lose in one sitting. I feel for ya.

Got all 4 out this morning. 3 were in, 1 was impacted. So far not too bad -- the bleeding has slowed down dramatically and I'm only using the prescribed Motrin for the pain. The freezing is out too so I'm not just disillusioned. I was put under for it, didn't wake up with any nasty surprises.

Looking forward to my dinner of plain chicken broth and instant mashed potatoes...
