The worst part of mine, is that I kind of thought the same way, then the infection set in and forced the issue. If that infection spreads your other teeth will be affected.

My ex got one pulled in Mexico, hotel put us in a cab, we turn up at some house in the back part of town, dude in jeans and a t shirt invites us in, sits me down with his wife to watch soap operas (she took pity on me and put some soccer on) he takes my missus out to the kitchen and pulls the tooth out with a pair of pliers, writes a note to take to the pharmacia which we assumed was a prescription but apparently you can buy Demerol over the counter there!! who knew. My missus spent the week stoned out of her gourd, which is probably why she let me get her pregnant, came back to Vancouver and her dentist described it as the cleanest extraction he'd ever seen, probably cost fifty bucks in total.
to this day I have no idea if the guy was a dentist or not.

Sounds like it could be a new Netflix series. Dentisto De Pablo.

Ended up with a hole in my sinus system that would leak and cause fluid to drip or go into my nose. Had to go back for 3 hours of awake surgery where they cut and grafted it shut but my cheek is part of that solution on the inside of my mouth. (Not visible on outside).
Then the drugs and anti-infectants caused my stomach to go bad and it hasn't been right since. I often contemplate getting some professional advice and pursuing the doctor as it seems like malpractice.

A former co worker had similar problems after teeth removal. He just recently won a 500K law suit. So yes you may want to look into it!

I had bruising on my shoulder and upper chest from my dentist bracing against me with his knee when I had all four of mine out at once.

SO anyways, doofus proceeds to fill a syringe with ice cold water and spray it directly into the socket. It was one of the most painful things I've ever experienced. Yeah I remember that stupid syringe guy too. He said the same thing to me, I wasn't cleaning it properly so he as going to do it. No #### buddy I'm not doing it properly. It hurts like hell.
I also had dissolvable stiches in my mouth, and I remember those were a pain as well.
I envy those of you who had it done smoothly and could function the next day.

I did all 4 at once. If I were to do it again I'd do 2. I couldn't eat solid foods for a week. By day 4 I got so sick of soup I went down to Bourbon St Grill, got bourbon chicken with potatoes, corn, and extra bourbon sauce and threw it in the blender.
At least with 2 at a time you could chew on one side.

Not sure what that makes me. I had 6. Got them all pulled earlier this year. Surprisingly straight forward. I got put under, woke up without issues. Some mild discomfort/pain for the first day. Took the rest of the week off work (I talk on the phone all day) and relaxed and watched Netflix. Would do again.

Boy, I don't want to sound like a dick or anything but my experience was great.
I was told going under was a bad idea because it was way more expensive and a lot of people actually had complications after due to the drugs, so I stayed awake and just had my jaw numbed.
I brought a discman and blared Metallica the whole time (at the dentist's suggestion, said the noises were not pleasant).
All I felt was some pressure and got pretty wide eyed when I saw him handling some giant chisel and pliers looking devices.
I had pretty much no pain, had no problems cleaning. I even went to a movie later that night and ate popcorn and drank out of a straw, both things they advised against. I got a whole bottle of T3s but I don't ever remember using them (for the pain).
Agree with poster above me. Would do again.

If they came in straight like that, you shouldn't have a problem. I had the same issues, everything came in fine, but there was no room to properly clean behind them, so they were filled with cavities. For mine, it took longer for the freezing to set in than it did for the dentist to do the extractions.

I was having the worst pain in my cheek/headache for a week when I was 20, so I figured it was my wisdom teeth causing the issue since I have major crowding. Go in the Tuesday before American Thanksgiving and had three pulled. Wasn't put under and with the Vicodin they gave me for the pain, it wasn't a bad experience. Was even at work the next day for the busiest day of the year. I was in Grocery at the time and Wednesday before Thanksgiving is usually the #1 sales say for most stores.
The thing that sucked, was the major cheek/jaw/headache came back a week later. Turns out I had an abscess that was causing the pain. So basically had my wisdom teeth removed for no reason. The root canal the following week was probably the worst pain I ever felt, or so I thought.
Had an abscess a couple years ago on my back upper left tooth. That was even worse pain. They didn't give me enough Novocaine at first so I felt the wire they use to file the roots to the nerve in excruciating detail.
Hemi-Cuda, get your wisdom teeth pulled ASAP. If they have confirmed cavities already, you're playing with fire on getting an infection and a root canal is a lot worse than an extraction in my opinion.

I refuse to acknowledge my age pal. Fashion has come full circle to the 90's, meaning I'm as cool as ever.
Now if you will excuse me, I'm off to the Rose n Crown to pick up some cougars.

Had mine done when I was about 20. (15 years ago) I was a lucky one and had a great experience. I got put under and don't remember anything. I woke up and I was fortunate to have the happy/goofy reaction instead of the emotional one. I just remember being so fascinated that I had gauze in my mouth. I kept trying to tell everyone. I was also fortunate with no bleeding or pain afterwards.
I did have a terrible root canal years back where the numbing didn't work as intended due to infection. That was an awful experience, so I guess it evened it out a bit.

I'm on day two of the after yanking. I think I'm in the clear. The first use of saltwater as a rinse was unpleasant.
On the instructions, I'm supposed to stick to soft food for three days and avoid chewing on the site because of the clot (scab). So I'm now on day three without real meat.
The good thing about this is I had a license yesterday to be a real bastard and then point to the swelling and mumbling, sorry.

Same for me. Never needed anything stronger than advil for the pain, was back at work next day.

so I went back to the dentist today to get a complete exam.
Again, I haven't been to the dentist in a long time because I have anxiety around it.
So the good news, I have no cavities and my teeth are strange.
The old bad news, I have some gum disease so they scheduled me for 4 deep cleanings and they're going to split my mouth into quadrants.
So I get done, and then get dumb.
Dentist
"great so we'll set up the next few appointments for the cleaning"
Me - "Hey doc, you mentioned that last time that my other wisdom teeth might be loseninn up"
Dentist - "Hey right thanks for the reminder, we'll do them at the same time and just take the rest out"
Me - "aw f%%%"

I had all 4 out at once, was off work for about 2 days but I had the weekend to recover as well. Everything went smoothly as far as I remember, didn't need my T3's. My face though looked like I went toe to toe with McGrattan.
The warm salt water washes def helped speed up the process for me IMO. Didn't get any dry sockets or painful experiences.

Man wisdom teeth removal is so hit and miss for some. I only had one removed and it was a total disaster (I'm pretty sure I told it here a few years ago) involving lots of blood loss and permanent loss of feeling in my chin.
