Sure, if you base your analysis purely on stats. But I think that's a symptom of playing for an elite team.
MAF has a tendency of allowing soft goals at the worst time. Sure, if your team is up by three goals, he'll probably hold the fort for the remainder of the third period. But, if you're down by 1, that floater from the blue line might sneak by and kill the momentum. The guy is not clutch at all.

Unless every other starting goalie is abducted by aliens wishing to steal their abilities like in Space Jam then I would rather see 6th OA not involved in a trade for a goalie unless there's more coming back. Especially since we haven't even hit free agency season yet and there could be goalies out there that cost no assets.

Francis: Penguins want 6th OA for Fleury

No. 6OA is MUCH too high of a price to pay for either one, or for practically any goalie for that matter.

I'd do it if we got back the 30th pick or whatever they have and they take back every single cap dump on our roster.
I'm kidding. Enjoy being over the cap Pittsburgh, Fleury ain't worth it.

Our first for Fleury who the Pens are not even using and they are having 5.7m eating up capspace he is under contract until 2019. No way the Flames bite on that. Francis is creating a headline, Flames should ask for Malkin or Crosby. Fleury for a 4th and a same level prospect as the fools gold we got for Iggy. Pens are in a jam he will be a 5.7m backup. If the Flames even pursue this I don't think they will.

I don't think Columbus has any reason to give the 6th pick for MAF.

Yeah, no. MAF is a much, much better goalie than Reimer.
Of course the 6th for MAF is laughable. This is just negotiating. They will end up working out a deal for the 35th pick.

Pretty much. Brooks was talking things up that the Rangers wanted a 1st round pick plus for Talbot and look at what the ultimate price turned out to be. Anyone that's ever sold anything on Kijiji for fair value knows that you set the starting price higher than you expect to receive and this is Rutherford trying to artificially pump up the value of his goaltender.

I mean, all you can do is laugh.
I don't even want Fleury period, wanting the 6th overall for him is hilarious. Perhaps they shouldn't pretend that he couldn't even get into games in the most important part of the season before they put together a request.

I initially read this as Penguins want a 6th round pick for Fleury and thought that sounded reasonable.

I really think Fleury is a great fit for Calgary. With the Pens over the cap we can take the whole cap hit back without sending any money. We have some good forward prospects we can part with or a Dman like Culkin or Kulak. 35th overall is also a good asset. I can see Fleury coming to Calgary at a reasonable price no chance our first is involved

Fleury isn't the goalie I want, so I hope based on the ridiculous asking price the talks are all but over.
