Clearing room for a max offer to Stamkos who will quickly become a cap issue.

Welcome home Steven Stamkos. It appears he's set to become the highest paid player in the NHL via the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The Dion can't handle not being the de-facto leader of a team. How is he going to react being on an NHL team with a defenseman that is inarguably a league better than him?

WTF is this crap.

Toronto takes on a bunch of garbage. Ottawa gets a massively overpaid defensemen when its not likely that they're going to make the playoffs.

This trade is weird.

Great for the Flames in terms of Russell's becoming even more interesting to other teams.

I feel like going to Toronto would be the worst mistake of Stamkos' career. He'll get criticized like crazy during any scoring drought and will get zero privacy. I could see him getting run out of town within a few years.

What Karlsson will stop him from changing the music in the dressing room?

Don't Sens fans boo Dion every time he has the puck?

I fully expect BigTuna to go on a big rant about how Phaneuf always sucked.

The only reason that I can see Ottawa doing this is if they feel that they have a couple of players on entry level contracts that they want to get regular ice time. That way, for the first three years, the salaries may not be that much of an issue.

In the last 2 years of Dion's deal, his money owed in real dollars falls to 6.5M and 5.5M. That may make him movable when he is 33 and 34 years of age, and the Sens have to deal with raises to any ELC players they begin playing now.

Karlsson will make Phaneuf look like a stud. Phaneufs actually been better this year than his past few years and has got 24pts to show for it which would be second only to Karlsson. Karlsson and Phaneuf will probably get some time together too as he's a right handed shot and Dion's a lefty.

I'll bet that the Sens expose Dion to expansion.
