I have parade cam, and it looks like the rain is starting to get pretty bad.

Another interesting, creepy and sad problem that the city will be facing is how the above ground cemetaries (many of them well over 200 years old) will fare in the extreme flooding.

This is horrible. Thank God I don't have relatives there but there are still thousands in New Orleans trying to wait it out.
You know there is going to be alot of damage, and there will be some casualties. This is going to change thousands of peoples lives forever and there is nothing you can do but sit and watch.

I can't help but be enthralled by this whole situation. I know its terrible, but I have always been a complete weather nut. When this is happening so far away, and all you see are images on CNN, it seems like more of a movie than reality.
I hope everyone who evacuated gets out in time, I hope the Louisiana Superdome stays intact. You just know there will be some people that weren't able/too stubborn to evacuate or find shelter. The outlook isn't too good for those folks.

The stability of the SuperDome concerns me a bit. I wonder if officials would still lead people there even if they were unsure if its roof and sides can withstand 160 mph winds and the associated projectiles. With 20 000 people in there that could end badly.

Just watching CNN - they are saying the hurricane will hit between 7 and 8 AM (Central) tomorrow morning. So much for getting any work done tomorrow.

Its probably one of the safest places that amount of people could be, but its still not 100%.
It hasn't been tested like this before.

On the beadcam, it looks like the water is starting to pool up against the curb on bourbon street.
If the rain continues like this, probably 30 minutes to an hour until the water is up over the curb.

From what I understand, the people in the Dome are mostly made up of people without transportation out of the city. Im sure the city had pretty limited options for 20 000 people. Hopefully the thing holds.

Could you Imagine being in there? I would be terrified of having the building collapse on top of me. I'm sure it would be close to dead silent in there.

Except for the howl of 165mph winds blowing around you.

No kidding. This can easily turn into one of the worst disasters in US history if things get bad.
