I haven't watched any of the games but looking at the box score he seemed to go from very good (2 SO's) to very bad (pulled in at least 1 game and another with 4 GA).
So going by box scores seems somewhat like you would expect for a young talented goalie, nights where his talent can get him great results but not the consistency to put those games back to back to back and perhaps a few things to work on in terms of battling when you don't have your A game.
But again that is a purely box score assessment so likely isn't worth a ton.

Well, I think this actually makes the Flames the deepest team in goaltending in the entire NHL. I said deepest, not best. A whole lot of bodies organizationally.
Well, you never know how someone ends up panning-out. Lots of goalies bounce around before making it click. Odds are against it, but this temporary AHL filler for Gillies may end up being good. Stranger things have happened, though I doubt anyone will bet good money on it.

Teams aren't in the habit of trading NHL starters 15 games into a season, at least not starters that we are going to want to add.

Why not try backstrom from minny? Probably available for very cheap. Try Ramo for him straight up (they can assign Ramo to minors which they can't with Backstrom as nmc) and get cap relief. If they don't want Rako, why not David Jones as we have surplus F. Money works out roughly even in either scenario. He might be out dubnyk.

In a year when the BOG meets to discuss changes to increase scoring it seems Calgary has the cure for this in their back pocket with 4 goalies boasting a sub.900 save percentage.
What a bizarre world.

I think Poulin is a good pickup. Give him a chance to fill in for Gillies, and then as Gillies backup at the AHL level is probably a fine job for him.

I hope there's no truth to the rumor that Flames mad scientists are trying to create an awesome Frankengoalie out of bits of terrible goalies.

This is the guy that Theo scored on in the shoot out all those years ago.

Well I hope the goalie appreciates how historic that shootout goal was.

It's weird as I was reading tweets yesterday that Gillies was going to be fine. Ah well. Hope he heals up soon. Poulin will be a decent trooper for Stockton I hope.

What are you, nuts?! You've totally missed the big picture! This is a handshake deal, just to grease a few palms; a goodwill gesture leading to a much bigger deal, where we get screwed! Next thing you know it's Monahan, Russell, and a 1st for Stamkos, which people think is okay, right up until the "future considerations" for Poulin winds up being Johnny Gaudreau!
I scoff at your reason! *Scoff!*
